I have a set of manley rods that I just put in my new STi block tonight and I was wondering if anyone knew the correct direction to install them. In the Subaru Manual it said the marked side goes toward the front of the engine. On the Manley rods the only marks on them is the part that says MANLEY so I put that side towards the front of the engine on all the rods. For the rod caps, they werent marked either so I just put the caps on the exact way they came off.

Well I finally got ahold of Manley and they said the "marked side" that the suby manual is referring to is the side that says Manley.

And for the rod caps, if anyone installs them themselves, make sure they go on the same way you took them apart.

That’s because when they mill and machine down the surfaces they have the caps installed. Its a little late but its generally good rule of thumb to mark em all with a paint pen before you take em apart.
