View Full Version : Question about belts gaskets and seals

I'm considering a 96 2.2 legacy with 128k for purchase needing a few things that I know of:

1) timing belts (probably, since no record)

2) cam shaft end seals (leaking) (correct name?
i.e. those that seal the egress point of the camshafts)

3) valve cover gaskets (leaking)

These are mysterious problems, I know. But I have no idea what the ballpark cost of replacement is (parts & labor) for these. Any feedback is appreciated.

I would estimate around $600 bucks

Sounds about right, I did my '99 2.2l timing belt, cam and crank seals, water pump, radiator hoses for ~400.00.

Of course I supplied the labor. Working on this engine is easy with a few tools.

Do a search for 'timing belt change 2.2' - I did mine with all the info from this board.

for an idea of what it takes to do it yourself.
