Last night I was driving home from the mall with the wife(Victoria Secret's had a huge sale) and I rolled onto the gas in 3rd, progressing, not stomping into WOT. Shift to 4th, I'm in the upper rpm range(watching the road, so not sure exact rpm's) and I get this huge hesitation, like the car bucked and check engine light comes on and the cruise light flashes. Is this Fuel Cut? What causes this? Car drove fine the rest of the way home, still built boost, no other symptoms. I got home and reset the ECU, no check engine light. But...especially since the wife was in the car, I'd like to know(she does too  ) what it sounds like. Thanks.

This is fuel cut caused by your TBE.
Alot of people will tell you this is boost-creep. In reality you need some sort of EM to increase the waste gate duty cycle.
There's a strong chance that this will resolve your issue, it could be a true case of boost-creep. However 1\10 people that come here that say they have it, actually just need EM.
My recommendation is the same that i have for myself until I can get my hands on a Access-port V2. Just stay off the throttle in the top end gears.
I'd also recommend reading Unibombers Manifesto on boost-creep and TBEs.
A lot of this is already answered.

Couldn't find the Unabomber FAQ's on Boost Creep. The part that seems odd is I've had this TBE combo for almost 2 years now, with no issues whatsoever. I have the MadDad DP/3CE combo http://www.daddysscp.com/dcart4/product.php?productid=11&cat=6&page=1
"The MadDad(TM) Metal V2 is the only hi-flow catted downpipe with a catless wastegate design, offering the fastest boost control response to eliminate boost creep. STi owners take note."

Interesting...................even with a catted downpipe I wouldn't rule out waste-gate duty cycle problems.
Next time it happens (or if the CEL is still there) have advanced, napa or some autoparts store pull the code (they do it for free) and list it up.
we can better help you from there.

....almost certainly a p0244 code---"wastegate solenoid 'a' range/performance"......hit boost cut----was kinda cold, no????
engine management cures this

Wasn't that cold really. Highest it's been temp wise in a couple months.

 ....irrelevant....really.....it just usually happens more when the weather cools off.
This issue is a 'fall' thing usually...weather cools....boost spikes.....'bang'----p0244
