View Full Version : Would anybody be interested in engraved lighters?
Section 8 05-03-2001, 04:56 PM I have access to a laser engraver and the operator on a very limited basis. Would anybody be interested in engraved lighters? We can do just about any design on the lighter, but it has to be on an anodized surface. Here is an example of one of the lighters. http://www.geocities.com/section8hq/lighter.html
What do you think? What would you want engraved on them?
Greg
Stubaru 05-03-2001, 07:06 PM I'm interested. I've been trying to find an STi lighter from a website that uses English but these would do just as well.

kaos200 05-03-2001, 07:20 PM How much?
I'd be interested in a blue "sti" or "wrx"
or "2.5 rs"
BoulderSuby 05-03-2001, 08:01 PM Since I blacken my lungs about 20 times a day, I might as well do it in style. I'd totally be interested in a 2.5 RS, an I-club logo, or anything else for that matter
p-car 05-03-2001, 08:48 PM It's not cool to use the i-club logo without Nick's and Alex's approval, especially if you're doing it to make a profit.
steppin16 05-03-2001, 09:40 PM yea it sounds nice.. pm me a price or something
ATX25RS 05-04-2001, 12:49 AM I am with BoulderSuby ...might as well do it in style.... http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/lildevil.gif If i could get a price and choice of logo's (Suby Star cluster, the "i", or the 2.5RS logo, and countless others)....where do I send the money?
Just to clear this up, how many horses does this add? about 6? at the flywheel?<j/k>
Nothing says "I'm cool, I love to smoke, and I LOVE MY CAR" like a logo-matched Zippo.

MichiganRS 05-04-2001, 02:19 AM Im in for an STI one
Doesnt the placment suck for the ashtray and there isn't a light either ! I end up flicking ashes on my girlfriend before i get it in that little dinky ashtray!
Sorry had to vent
MattJP 05-04-2001, 07:12 AM I am interested, specially if they are Zippos. I vote for the star cluster, the WRC swoosh or the word subaru.
Section 8 05-04-2001, 10:18 AM Yes the lighters are Zippos, I don't have a price right now. The lighter in the picture was $26.99 (or thereabouts) anyway, I can get a better price someplace, I just have to find that place. I'll add a pic to the page above with a piece of wood with some engraved images that we were previously experimenting with. http://www.geocities.com/section8hq/lighter.html

Section 8 05-06-2001, 04:36 PM WHEW! Had to have another pic taken of the board, as I lost the pic in my comp somewhere.... Anyway, therese are a few examples that the engraver did last month on wood before he did the actual lighter. I hope to have a blue lighter with the rally swoosh and one with an "RS" or a "2.5".
Informal poll: Which would you like to see?
I don't think that "2.5 RS" would fit very well.
Anyway, I am going to hopefully have a couple more examples next week. The price will be $30.00, this price includes shipping. I will open a thread in the classifieds when I get another example or two, and post here that they are ready. To avoid any supply problems, I will only be taking a limited number of orders at a time, because I don't have the money to keep a large stock of lighters on hand. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/frown.gif Sorry.

Cliff Ditchhanger 05-07-2001, 11:12 AM What is the material of the colored parts that are on the Zippo. It kind of looks like a flexible plastic that I have seen put on knock off Zippos before. I would be interested if it could be engraved on a standard, blank Zipppo. Is that possible?
Section 8 05-07-2001, 01:21 PM The material on the side is anodized aluminum. I didn't add the parts, it is the way they come from zippo. I assure you that they are real Zippo lighters, they will arrive in the Zippo gift box (??? the "velvet" lined black and gold card board box that they come in with "Zippo" printed on the outside)along with the warnings and instructions for use. You just need to add fuel.
The nature of the engraver only allows us to engrave anodized surfaces (when speaking of metal)hence the anodized Zippos in the four colors are the only lighters being offered with the engraved designs.
Thank you,
Greg
