well, when I got my rex keyed a couple months ago, I got a full paint job. well, about 3 weeks after I waxed the car. I also polished it last night. I also noticed that many parts of my car have little goosebump looking things, not too noticable but you can definately feel and see (at night) them. and what a coincidence that I found out tonight that paint needs to cure before waxing. Is this the cause of these little needlehead size bumps in the paint? what should I do to fix it? i feel my luck sinking deeper and deeper wit this car:( can someone help me out?

Sounds like you've got air bubbles forming under the paint.
I'm no expert, but I bet that waxing it could have caused your problem. I'd go talk to the paint shop. They should have given you explicit instructions on the care of your new paint. If they didn't, ask them if they'll redo it. If not, ask if they'd be willing to split the cost.

After all is said and done, it was you who put the wax on. Be grateful if they redo it. I don't know what your days are like, but you might ask if they'll let you do the prep work to drop costs. (sanding, masking, but not spraying.)

It has nothing to do with you waxing the car 3 weeks later. You are supposed to wait a month 4 weeks but hey thats close enough. the reason being it lets the chemicals release from the paint which normally happens by the second week 4 weeks is just to be on the safe side. What you are talking about is a poor paint job that you just noticed. Dont even mention to the company that you waxed it after 3 weeks ifg you tell them anything about waxing it just tell them you recently waxed it and noticed the paint wasnt right while removing the wax. Which happens all the time even if you look over a car before you take it i dont care how picky you are you will notice more when you wash it yourself and then wax it. I have had several things painted and always find something wrong sometimes I let it slide because its not that big of a deal other times I make them repaint it especially if its on the body of the car. Those bumps you mentioned have to do with how much air is going through the gun. Air pressure is everything so I have been told if its not right you get runs or those bubbles that popand leave bumps or you get orange peel. it is hard to find a good paint shop. they might try to wet sand them out.

Oh. I thought for some reason you waxed it the night you got it back from the paint shop.

If you waited almost a month, I'd say they need to get it stripped, properly prepared, and repainted.

Dont let them tell you they can wet-sand it out either.

Get it totally re-done.

That happened to me before and they were like..we'll just wet-sand it and it'll be fine.
I dont think so...they painted it all again..for free:D

Sounds like you have dust particles trapped under the paint or between the color coat and the clear coat.

You didn't mention the cost of the paint job. An expensive job should include proper prep work, not just a paint-over. If it's an expensive job I'd raise hell. If it's a cheapo job, just grin and bear it.

my car got keyed so insurance payed for all of it. the problem is I would demand to get it repainted, but I its a fellow church members father's shop, and he already did so many nice things for me, painted the sideskirts for free, knocked out the deductible, fixed up a dent in my bumper(unrelated to the keying), and I even buffed out some scratches (caused by me) after the paint job. its not that big of a deal, only really visible to the discriminating eye at night under a light. maybe I'll jus live with it unless it gets worse
