Do the welded cross bar/ harness bar kits come pre-welded or would I need to do that myself?

What is the difference in strength between the weld in cross bar/ harness bar vs. bolt in?

Hi,

Good questions. :)

Do the welded cross bar/ harness bar kits come pre-welded or would I need to do that myself?

With the Autopower Roll Bar product line everything always comes pre engineered, pre welded, pre fabricated and pre painted for you. All you really have to do when the kit arrives is touch up the paint and install it.

What is the difference in strength between the weld in cross bar/ harness bar vs. bolt in?

This I cannot properly answer at this time. I just don't have any real data. Common sense seems to tell me that weld in is always stronger than bolt in.

No, but I plan on upgrading my seat and going with harnesses, but feel safer doing this than just a harness bar since it doesn't come that close to my head.

mick_the_ginge (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/member.php?u=27646) was nice enough to document the install of his Race Roll bar that he bought from us last year. Thanks Mick! Here are a couple of images from his install that show the mounting points.

You'll have to cut a little bit of this sound deadener trim here.

Under the car shot showing the backing plate all coveres with goo. Nice Job Mick!

Nice job again Mick!

I do hope this post helps. Big thanks go out to Mick for documenting this install and for hosting the images. You can see all of Micks install photos here http://www.mickandsarah.com/WRX-Wago...all/index.html (http://www.mickandsarah.com/WRX-Wagon-Autopower-install/index.html).

Just out of simple curiosity, with the bolt in harness bar can you remove the cross bars and still retain use of your back seat? Or would your passengers be in danger of getting brained in a collision? I think that's a reason a lot of people wouldn't spring for a cage.

With all Autopower product you can keep all of your stock seats installed. Still, not a good idea to have folks in the backseat area at all.

What's the purpose of the middle cross (the very short one)?

I also see you don't sell this particular bar anymore on your site.

Hello,

Good question. :)

That bar is what's called, "A Head Restraint Brace." Example of need; imagine a heavy rear impact where the seat back breaks (very common scenario with stock seats), that little brace will / should help catch that headrestraint.

We offer that kit here; http://www.safedrives.com/proddetail.asp?prod=AutopowerRaceRollBar&cat=104
It just does not reflect that brace in the picture from Autopower Industries.
