Engine is shot due to lack of oil.

I can't say how long because it all depends on a shops workload and lift availability but It could take a day to pull the motor and another day or two to tear it all down. But what is the point of investigating? Just replace it already.

He may not be taking it apart himself, a lot of mechanics have a machine shop they work through, so he may very well have taken it out. Now you may have to wait on the machine shop and their schedule as well, who really knows.

Two weeks is not a long time, did you speak to him about how much time you could afford to be w/ out your subaru?

Oil scavenging is actually a common problem with Subaru EJ series motors. It happened to a couple of local STI owners here on LI just this year. You should definately be able to get it covered by SOA as long as you didn't mod the car. Where are you located and who did you take the car to?
