I was just wondering which would be safer and which will give me the most potiental or power. I know that If i ran 50/50 mix of meth and water i can still keep my TMIC and not have to worry about heat soak. Would this still be the case if i was to get run a map for 105 octane? Which would give me more power?

Both ftw.
You would need to get mapped for either of the two.
Both are just as sfae as you ask your tuner to be when he is setting the parameters and creating your maps.
If you get tuned for 105 oct you need to always run 105 oct as long as you are using the map. The same goes for meth.

Its all about the tune and you ensuring you are tuned for what you are running.

I dont mind running only race gas for the map, as i can get race gas pretty easily, I was just concered that the Race gas would not have the cooling affect as the meth and water injection would, esp since im still on the tmic.

The thing you should realize is, when you get tuned for either race gas, meth or both you will have to change between maps while utilizing different fuels. Unless you have enough $ to pay $6-$9 per gallon for daily use.
Your tuner will probably explain it all to you if you dont understand the concept.
You can run your daily driven tuned map as a reflash and use realtime maps for when you have the fuel.
I use a 94oct Alky/water map @ 24 lbs of boost for daily drive and with the 113 oct and alky @ 30 lbs for fun days.
I also have maps without alky and just 93/ 94 oct for long trips.
As I mentioned above both can be made equally as safe by your tuner.
Feel free to PM me with any additional ?'s or for advice.

I'm at the exact crossroad that your at. Im thinking a 50/50 for daily driving and then a 50/50 + Race Gas for a race map. Another way you could go being you have the TMIC and want to reduce heatsoak is to spray it with nitrous or C02 and then a race gas map. Just another route I'm considering.

yea i talked to my tuner and he said the best bet would be 50/50 meth and water injection becuase race gas would not help with the heatsoak. As far as race gas and meth, I dont no if that would be a benifit.

Do you want safer or more power? I think race gas is safer but methanol will help your power more than race gas will due to the cooling effect. Running meth you have to worry about pump failures, clogged lines, etc. I run meth and the car and sti tmic loves it, I just check to make sure everything is working properly before events. Theres really no reason to run meth and race gas, just get a different jet for meth and you can run 2 different maps using the methanol. Plus windshield washer fluid is alot cheaper.

I am all for meth, with a good tune and proper failsafes, its uber safe and doesn't kill 02 sensors or your walet...

Pros and cons:

Meth:::

Pros: great cooling and anti detonation effect, cheap to buy, kits for less than $500 are pretty good.....

cons: 1. external tank, pump, etc. All must work and tank must have plenty of capacity and a low meth warning light is essential.... can't run out when pushing hard on the car...

2. extra complication of yet another "fuel" system on car that can be catastrophic to engine if it fails

3. having to buy a sometimes hard to find Methanol fuel and store it safely at home....then, having to mix it properly with distilled water into a seperate container to get it well mixed...

buying a 10,30, or 55 gallon drum is a good idea if you race and street drive much while using it....

4. Extra parts and one more computer to fail (alcohol controller) that is on the car....

RACE FUEL:::

pros: Easy to use, no extra fuel or computer components required to run race fuel, can be purchased in high octane unleaded or used in high octane leaded versions (C16 is preferred for turbo cars), fill 'er up and go... only a fuel pump dying or loosing power can stop the flow.... Smells great too!!!! won't make you cry like a little girl like Meth will

You don't have to have a full tank, if you go to the drag strip, 1/2 tank is sufficient for a lot of racing.... if road racing, you will need more...

cons:

1. Expensive per gallon $5-$9 /gallon....

2. hard to purchase in small quantities.... it is a pain to deal with 5 gallon jugs of fuel and spillover all the time.... a 30gallon or 55 gallon drum is the way to go if you use much, but you will need a siphon pump (another $30-$50) and you will need to be very careful in the handling/ storage of the fuel ( it is very dangerous and very sensitive to static electricity)...

3. Leaded fuel will eventually kill or slow the reaction of O2 sensors.... wideband or narrow.... this is an over-hyped truth that many people think will instantly kill their O2 sensors....

they die after continued use with race fuel over a long period of time.... like several months usually.... also, the less you idle or idle richly, the longer the sensor will last with leaded fuels....

obviously, high octane unleaded will not hurt the sensor, but leaded fuels have proven to be easier to tune for higher HP and TQ numbers with higher boost....

4. Cannot run leaded race gas with a converter :true, it will melt the converter rather quickly....

5. If caught using leaded gas on the road, you can be fined....

You can use windshield washer fluid with methanol in it. Easy to find, really cheap (.79 per gallon), don't have to mix with distilled water.
