Take your car to get it tuned by someone who knows what they are doing. This is not a tuner friendly system and even experienced tuners have troubles with it, mainly idle. It will be the best money you have spent. Most quseetion on here are my cars doing this. More than likley a setting in the power-fc is turned on or off and we have no idea what to do. Not trying to be a ass but in reality very few on here have tuned power-fc's and can tell you waht to do .

I completely agree with you on this. However there is a big problem with this. There are not many PFC tuners in north america. Take for instance my situation. There isnt a single tuner around me in like a 1K radious :(

Boulder is roughly 850mi from you. Harvey can tune it for you...:)

I ran into that problem too but mostly it was just lack of familiarity with the commander and the PFC. So, I got some books, read everything I could about tuning and the basic theory of engine management and got a datalogit. Now I just tune it myself. Not an expert but have not blown it up yet either ...well, except for the transmission but that was not anything to do with tuning just bad maintenace on my part. I learn some stuff here and some from other places but mostly books and friends in Japan that work with power fc more. Now I have a good basic understaning of the maps and feel confident to completely do all my own tuning on this car with this system. I completely re-wrote my ing and inj maps and as soon as the transmission is fixed I will dyno just to see what it can do on a few different versions of my maps to kind of double check some theories/ideas. Anyway, the engine is fast and responsive and I feel like I learned a lot from it so I am happy with the results.

I agree too, however expert Power FC tuners are not a dime a dozen. Harvey in Boulder tuned my car initially. This was only his second time with a PFC so he doesn't know all the ins and outs but did a good job imo. I have been trying to learn by reading the uk forums and trial and error. I am learning what works and what doesn't. I am not gonna take it down there every week when something changes, so the only way is to do it myself and learn as I go. Harvey showed me the basics of tuning and how to adjust the maps but I have not had a need to mess with the ignition or fuel maps that he set up. I do occasionally adjust other features and timing and fuel across the board but am very cautious.
Hopefully I will be able to afford datalogit soon, which I anticipate will aid greatly in tuning.

No doubt a datalogit will help- Anyone who has tuned a standalone should be able to figuar out enough to tune this software. Yo uguys jsut scared the crap out me when some one mentioned the boost control and did know anything about boost duty cycle.

I read some things on here that really make me wonder how long some of these guys can keep their engines alive too. Maybe other people read my posts and thing the same thing about me and my opinions. But overall the basics are the same no matter what ecu and software you use. Experienced tuner is hands down the best way to go but sometimes it isn't an option and even some "experienced" tuners may not fully understand what they are doing with your particular engine set up -like guys that just do reflashes on hondas for example claiming they can tune anything, even heavily modified tubo set ups.
I guess if your going to do it yourself you have to be prepared for the day when you push it just a bit to far and break something expensive! I hope when I do that it is not too far from home -tow trucks are expensive and so are new engines!
