I was reading through the results of the Maine Forest Rally, and I noticed that there are a lot of Mitsu EVO's in the race. While I know that Subaru has put in efforts to provide STi and regular WRX's into the race (and other SCCA ProRally races), is Mitsubishi doing the same? Or are these EVOs private imports? Just curious...

As far as I know all the Mitsubishi Evo's running here in the states are private imports.

Has far has I know the only guy getting help from Mistu is Rhys Millen. But he's only a little help.
And I think it's mostly money. Most of the EVOs that run here are privateers effort's.
Before Subaru got in with prodrive and the WRX. Hyundai N. America or just U.S.A. and John Buffum.
Where the only factory doing anything in the States of late.

Ryhs is getting financial backing from MMC but you'll probably see a more "factory" effort next season since Prodrive/Subaru swept up the competition this year.

ALL the EVOs are privateer teams.

Buffum, Choinere and Lawler (although I hear Noel pays to drive) are essentially running a privateer Hyundai team. They get help from Hyundai but if you compare them to Subaru here in the States they're like a privateer team. The Tiburon is a development vehicle for the WRC team. :D

The Tiburon is just a EVO drive...oh I mean it's a Hyundai drivetrain...

actually, a couple years ago the Hyundai US rally team was given a Hyunday WRC motor to use, so I dont know if they are still using the Mitsu 4G63
