SLO_02WRX 01-15-2007, 10:49 PM axis short block or crawford's short block? Those are the 2 company's that I have heard the most.
ONCE AGAIN, THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP
1/500yellowwrx 01-15-2007, 11:42 PM I will be putting in an Axis stage 2 in my Sti. Ron is a great person to talk to. Performance Driven Parts of Jacksonvill is doing the install. They have done a great job of tuning my car on the stock block. Can't wait to see the results on a built block with some upgrades done to the heads. Sence you are local I would give PDP a call. I drive all the way from orlando on 104-110 octane just to tune my car. Matt really knows his stuff.
PDP's number is 904-645-5486

ted dibiase 01-16-2007, 01:05 AM Fred Beans Subaru has the best deal on a 2.5 block and everything that you would need to swap it in. I just went through all of this and Tristan at Fred Beans helped out. If you are looking for a built engine that could handle high power applications then maybe one of the other companies that was already listed. Fred Beans was $2100 shipped for a sb, pumps, gaskets, etc. If you wanted to go further you could look into getting better cams either modified sti cams or maybe crawford stage 2 cams. They evidently help tremendously after 5500 rpms. Good luck.
flycaster 01-16-2007, 02:11 AM axis short block or crawford's short block?
If that's your short list, do a search on both. It'll become clear who's happy, and who's not.

+1 tristan is an awesome guy with ridiculous prices
Hell I call him up just to chat half the time haha
quickscooby 01-16-2007, 02:52 PM Still happy with my Axis Stage 2 block. Ron has great customer service and my block doesn't burn any oil at 440whp/26psi. The block was able to hold 480whp/500lbs during a couple C16 pulls.
Turbo4me 01-16-2007, 05:16 PM You might give Cosworth a ring to see what they can do for you.

Dang, I didn't mean to intentionally leave them off my list in the post- I just forgot. Cosworth is realtively new to the Subie scene, and they are expensive - but they probably deserve to be right near (if not at) the top of anyone's short list.
Good call.
