View Full Version : Fully built 2.0L or 2.5 Sti short block? jifnjelly05 01-15-2007, 04:40 AM I need to decide on which one i want to go with for my 02 wagon. SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!:D N8WRX 01-15-2007, 10:36 AM go with the 2.5, theres a long list of benefits and if your pulling the motor to fix something might as well, and for the difference in price for the blocks its really a no brainer. PM me if you need a price on a block. I personally am going to go with SOHC rs heads so it made more sense to me to buy a block, rebuild it my self, and use the money saved towards a set of tech works forged pistons made specifically for the SOHC application. http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p204/cudaeh/subaru/stiblock002.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p204/cudaeh/subaru/stiblock001.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p204/cudaeh/subaru/stiblock003.jpg japslapr 01-15-2007, 11:03 PM I had the same question about two months ago. My motor was fine.. I was sitting at 300awhp and wanted A LOT more... so... either have to build the 205 or swap up. I choose to build the 205. Mainly because there aren't too many truely badarse 2.0 in Subbies. 2.5 hybrid swaps have been done to DEATH and it gets old (personally) seeing the same thing over and over again. On top of that... a strong 205 can still make some serious power. Can hate too much on the 2.5 tho... it is done a lot because it works well. I was surprised how they differed. At least visually. Before like 3500 - 4k there is definitely some differences. Big ones in some cases. But after 4k they were both well on their way to 350-400+awhp. People are doing 11's on the EJ25 and on the EJ20. A useable 8k rev limit in some cases with the EJ20. The EJ25 has more go pre 4k thats for sure. But I don't drive there unless I'm going to the store. I dunno. I'm sure there tons of evidence contrary to my opinion, but if you're looking at 350-400awhp, hmmm, I think a built EJ20 can serve you quite well. YMMV. cheers garrett wrxkidid775 01-18-2007, 05:02 AM get the 3 liter ;) i want to find out how much a 3.0l would be. that and then a gt40r and id be set. anyone know where to source a 3.0 from and how much they cost? i caught myself...i almost asked if you could run a 3.0l with ej25 heads    IllNastyImpreza 01-18-2007, 12:06 PM i want to find out how much a 3.0l would be. that and then a gt40r and id be set. anyone know where to source a 3.0 from and how much they cost? i caught myself...i almost asked if you could run a 3.0l with ej25 heads    hahaha yea, maybee you could squeeeeeez it on there ;) Ebay has the new ez30 for 2 g's http://cgi.ebay.com/01-Subaru-Forrester-3-0L-EZ30-Engine_W0QQitemZ120075903825QQihZ002QQcategoryZ460 98QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem or the svx eg33 japan engine, with DUAL throttle bodies for like 900 bucks  http://cgi.ebay.com/92-96-SUBARU-SVX-3-3L-DOHC-USED-JAPANESE-ENGINE-EG33_W0QQitemZ260075476499QQihZ016QQcategoryZ33615 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem are those still open deck blocks? anyone got any pics of the blocks ? |
