View Full Version : SCCA Autocross seasons are rapping up! How did you do in your region?
Figured everyone needed a place to brag! ;)
Because the CFR-SCCA region is so large, this year they divided the competition by East Coast & West Coast this year.
In STS I placed 1st! in the west coast competition (Results Here) (http://www.eec.com/racing/Results/2001/2001w.html), and 5th in the east coast competition (only attended 2 events!)(Results here!) (http://www.eec.com/racing/Results/2001/2001e.html).
Also in the results you can see Neal Tovsen (SUV-ETR) in GS placing 1st for the west coast and 2nd for the east coast!
Also in GS Katie Lacey (RS Chic) placing 3rd on the west coast and 5th on the east coast.
Another i-club member, Eric Starmer (wrxwannabe) placed 3rd in the east coast GS class competition.
Congrats to all! :D
Just checked the final results for the 2001 ProSolo National Series Events, I ended up 11th there with a 3rd place in Ft. Myers & 7th in Petersburg, to bad I couldn't make it to the finals!
Big C 11-26-2001, 10:50 AM I inadvertantly won SM in the WDCR-SCCA championship.......in my Neon! :D
I'm just happy that I was able to consistently put on my inconsistent display of driving to secure enough second places to finish first!!!
STiShawn 11-26-2001, 11:06 AM 3rd in STS for my first full season. Going to SM next year, even picked up a tire sponsor.
Travis R 11-26-2001, 11:16 AM 2nd place in DSP in our local club. I had to run the last race in a borrowed 2.5RS since I'd already sold mine.
Next year I'll run DS. Already have rims and tires for the WRX. It's the shocks that are going to kill me ($$$).
Patrick L 11-26-2001, 11:33 AM In STS,
(1) I was easily first in my Region.
(2) First in the MidWest Division
(3) 2nd at the SoloII Nationals
Staying in STS next year with a possible sponsor from Falken Tires.
p7r4e7y 11-26-2001, 12:19 PM 2nd in sm in houston
andresrs01 was first.
wistful 11-26-2001, 12:28 PM fourth in STS. I tried my best. Not bad for my first full season of Auto-xing. =)
Don
TimStevens 11-26-2001, 12:41 PM Sixth overall in the stock classes, and 2nd in G-Stock. Again, not bad for a first-timer, and I was only beaten by another WRX in G-Stock, so I don't feel bad ;)

skidplatez 11-26-2001, 01:13 PM 2nd STS SE Region
2nd STS Atlanta Region points
3rd 3 event local prosolo
My car got both 1st and 2nd in STR in philly region....
unfortunately I was the driver for the 2nd place award....
Rocky co-drove my car at a majority of the events and beat me enough to take the taco...
At least I wasn't dead last..... some guy in GSR took that....

ChrisW 11-26-2001, 01:33 PM This was a tough year for me... I finished 4th in ESP after blowing a head gasket and missing 5 events. I ended up driving a mustang to finish.
In June I switched to my WRX finishing 9th in GS after 6 events:(
In our slush series I am currently 2nd running my Talon which is finally fixed. One more event to go to decide the championship for the slush.
ndmorespd 11-26-2001, 07:20 PM Funny what showing upi makes a difference in the final standings... Though it makes me happy that those darned ITR's and IS300's are leaving GS... They were the only ones to ever touch my times, and they always walked me by at least 5-10%!!!
Anyway Results (http://www.sfrscca.com/solo2/Sacramento/Results/2001/Cup/gs.html) at that link...

#25
Snake river region STS
1st Jaxx
2nd JeffG
3rd Sardonic
i am also in the top 10 in the utah region too (6th last time i looked)
deepbeep 11-27-2001, 03:27 AM I managed to grab first in STS Novice in the SFR region... it was damn competitive, and good fun swapping first and second place finishes throughout the season with other i-clubbers (and a few Civic folk too)!
TyrannoSullyRex 11-27-2001, 10:33 AM 1st in B-Stock in Houston Region (Results (http://www.houscca.com/solo2/points.html))
Been racing the WRX (on street tires) ever since clinching BS. Still trying to figure it out.
omahasubaru 11-27-2001, 10:53 AM I took first place in STS for my region in Nebraska the NRSCCA. Considering going to SM next year since I'm already whoping the WRX guys... I can then rub it in.
Bigger/better brakes (still running stock everything) and upgrade clutch with lightened flywheel. That's the plan.
Oh this was my first full season in Solo II.
Hope for more consistant competition come next season.
Jon
Patrick L 11-27-2001, 12:11 PM I'll come up at race against you Jon. :D
Dussander 11-27-2001, 12:36 PM This was my first season AutoXing. I was running on street tires in GS:
6/17/01: Birmingham Race Course, 6th of 6. :)
7/15/01: BRC, 3rd of 8
8/5/01: Talladega Bike Course, 3rd of 9
9/16/01: BRC, 3rd of 7
10/21/01: BRC, 2nd of 8
10/28/01: Huntsville Speedway, 1st of 1 GS, 1st of 28 in PAX
11/10/01: TAC Slalom 7, 1st of 4 in Street Tire, 5th or 31 in PAX
11/11/01: TAC Slalom 8, 1st of 4 in Street Tire, 5th of 29 in PAX
11/18/01: BRC, 5th of 8
We have some excelent drivers in GS in Type-R's running R-compound tires. They usually stomp me. :)
Hopefully next year I can be more competitive in DS on some R-compound tires.
ChaosThom 11-27-2001, 01:40 PM WooHoo! I had a blast. I won the North Carolina Autocross Championship and the Central Carloina Region (parts of NC and SC) autocross championship competing in STS as a novice. Not bad for my first year. :D
I took 1st place in 9 events, 2nd in 3 events, and 1 5th place - talk about a bad day at the track...
Patrick Olsen 11-28-2001, 10:07 AM I very, very rarely do an SCCA event, so no SCCA events to report. However, running with my local club (which runs SCCA classing, it just isn't SCCA) I took 1st in CSP and was 3rd overall in auto-x points. The only event at which I didn't win CSP was the very first of the season, when I was still on the stock suspension with an 18mm rear bar. After installing the DMS Golds I took CSP rather handily at every event, and set FTD at one event. :)
Actually, I did run in one SCCA event this season, a New York Region event that was for the Tri-State (NY, NJ, CT) championship. I won CSP, so I got a cool little trophy. :) There were 125 "cars" in attendance and I had the eighth fastest raw time of any "car" there (by "car" I'm dropping the Formula Fords and whatnot, as I don't expect any "real" car to beat one of those things). The only sedan of the bunch that beat me was an M3. The other cars were a Boxster, an S2000, a trailered Miata, a trailered MR2, a non-street-legal ~1500# 289-powered E-Mod TVR, and a non-street-legal ~1500# F-Prepared TR6. Give me the extra 75hp that the M3 has compared to my poor 2.5GT, and I'm pretty sure I would have wasted every one of them except for the TVR (damn, that thing was quick!).
I also won the informal New England Subie Smack-down, beating ttoversteer and Pilot (both driving TTO's nearly stock RS on Hoosiers) and KC (driving his SCCA New England Region GS-winning WRX wagon on Kumhos). :) I'll sure there will be some rematches next season, as it was a close battle this year.

I also won the informal New England Subie Smack-down, beating ttoversteer and Pilot (both driving TTO's nearly stock RS on Hoosiers) and KC (driving his SCCA New England Region GS-winning WRX wagon on Kumhos). In raw time you did, in PAX I whooped yer butts!! :D ;)
1st in GS NER SCCA
1st in class for BMW CCA
16th at Natonals in GS
NER SCCA Drivers Champion won't be announced until Janurary's Awards Banquet
Next year there may be some changes in things.
