View Full Version : Does this thing exist?
SonicWRX 01-15-2007, 07:46 PM I have a 2007 STi with the AUX input and a 2G iPod Nano. I want a mount that plugs into the 12V port and has a dock connector for charging the Nano. It should also have a 3.5mm female port so I can run a small cable from the mount to the AUX port.
Anyone?
Thanks!
Mitch
Daishi00 01-15-2007, 08:09 PM JazzyMT (a vendor) should have what you're looking for.

He seems to specialize in adding an AUX port to factory stereos that don't have one. I have an AUX port, but need this mounting solution for my Nano so I don't have cables strung all over the interior of the car when using it.
Daishi00 01-15-2007, 08:35 PM sorry, missed the "mount" part of your thread. If I were you I'd order the cables from JazzyMT and then just custom make your own mount. I have not seen a Nano car mount yet myself.
JiveMasterT 01-15-2007, 09:15 PM This does it:

Not really a "mount" but it is a dock that charges your ipod and has a passthrough for a 3.5mm plug.
SonicWRX 01-15-2007, 11:20 PM Oooo, so close! I don't need the gooseneck thing as I want the dock to connect right to the 12V plug and this one is for a 1G Nano which unfortunately has different dock connector positioning than the 2G. A for effort though. Thanks.

Daishi00 01-16-2007, 12:06 AM make one...it'll be fun :)
SonicWRX 01-16-2007, 07:44 AM The last resort, but not out of the question. I figured with the thousands of iPod accessories out there that someone would have already turned one of these out. I'll keep looking...

It's got an audio out, and it doesn't have the long goose neck.

Problem is, I'm never home to work on cool stuff like this.
Glad you like the knob. I loved it on my car and am pretty sure I need to find a replacement for this titanium piece of cr*p in the STi. :)

Close, but no cigar. It's too big, too expensive and has an unnecessary and unwanted FM modulator on board.
I find that several companies make something for "all iPods", but that means it's way to big for a 2G Nano. Looks like I may have to make something to get what I want.
But thanks for the effort!

jrskeen 01-18-2007, 06:44 AM Ipod makes a special car kit that docks the player in a holder, and also charges it. As for your connection cable, radio shack sells the standard minijack to RCA cables...or whatever other kind you might need.
Check out Best Buy or any other store like it for the ipod mount kit.
vipernj 01-19-2007, 03:15 AM Bracketron from Metra... has the bracket, mini jack cable, and a 12v charger.. dont remember the part number cause theres a lot of them
SonicWRX 01-19-2007, 04:02 PM After much looking without finding what I really wanted, I decided to go with this one:

For that price I couldn't touch it with a DIY project.
