I keep seeing threads reference low compression #'s as a result of alc/meth/H2O injection but haven't seen any threads posted. Anybody got any links or posts of damage done due to injection?

FWIW I've been running an SMC kit for approx. 20,000 miles w/o any issues, although I've not had a compression check done. Just curious where these instances are cited, or if it's all just hearsay at this point. TIA.

I think it’s probably just the nature of the beast moreover directly related to any particular alky system…

In other words, alky/water injection raises your detonation threshold allowing you to run greater cylinder pressure without knock. This could be achieved via aggressive timing and/or increased boost from a traditional pump MAP. That said, increased cylinder pressure not only provides lots more power, but also unfortunately creates significant increases in stress which can lead to premature failure, etc..etc..etc..

id be interested in seeing what your compression reads across the cylinders after 20k of injection.

depends on his boost really

It's kind of like running race gas and a 'race gas' map all the time. It's really is not the injection necessarily, but what you do because you have it.

Mine after about 10,000-15,000 ( I can't remember exacty) read 140 across all cylinders.

I totally agree. I was running ALKY on my 2.0 engine with a conservative tune and one of my bearing let go. Would of this happend if i had not had the alky. More than likely yes.........so i dont think that METH or ALKY injection either prolongs or kills motors, i belive that it raises the det scale, but also like stated above as you raise pressure you raise stress.

Well, my car's got 74k on the odometer. At 20k I was running 19'ish psi on the stock turbo. At 55k I went to an SR40 with alcohol injection at 22'ish psi. I don't beat on the car, but find opportunities to boost regularly. I'm curious to see what the #'s would be after 20k of injection too, but am not too sure how much the two would be related, given the long history prior to the addition of alcohol.

DonkeyPunch - that's good feedback - thx.

I was running alky on my rs for about 50K and never had any problems.
