Need some new tires....and Im thinking that most any tire is better than the re92s :lol: so Ive narrowed it down to these all seasons, they seem to get decent reviews:

Max budget is $300 which sadly I'll be over if I get one of the above.

Any other suggestions? Anything cheaper?

Oh, forgot to mention, these would be for Oakland, CA bay area weather, mostly dry, some wet and maybe some snow trips to Tahoe (3 hrs away). Not looking for a race summer tire! Thanks.

conti extreme contact. I'm in SF, coming off the RE92's with the same uses. I'm absolutely amazed by the tires. Dry they hookup well, wet they hook up vey well. Snow/Ice the breaking point is predictable and they regrip very easily. I don't think I"m going to be switching to any other all weathers anytime soon.

I'm currently using a set of Kumho Ecsta ASX's on my wagon for the non-summer moneths and I've had a fairly good experience so far. They seem to handle and ride well for the money. They haven't seen much snow yet, so I can't really comment on that. I don't have any experience with the Falkens though.

I've been using GoodyearTripleTreds on my wagon. Initial cost is higher but treadware 740 makes the cost less over life of tire. $40 or $60 rebates show up regularly.

I'd like to suggest the General Exclaim UHP from the Tire Rack. I put about 8 thousand miles on a set before they came off for the winter (225/45x17 though). Great tire for the money ($63 each for 205/55x16 which I'd suggest for the OE wheels, $73 a piece for the 225/50x16). Tire Rack sells them as an Ultra High Performance summer tire, but they're actually all season. I'd pass on the 225/50 though; I think the OE wheels (at 6.5" wide) are too narrow for a 225 mm tire. I praised this tire on this forum about 6 months ago and caught flak for it (good example of the herd instinct, and fear of the unknown), but I consider this tire a real find.
