Mavrik 01-27-2007, 03:35 AM You need to ask yourself an important question. Do you plan to mod? If the answer is "Yes" then the correct answer to buying an extended warranty is NO If you answered "No" to that question then the answer to if you should buy an extended warranty is "yes" The STi is a great car but things can and will break. Its nice to not have to pay when that happens. As far as pricing goes... everywhere is different. I would try and buy one from a dealership if I was you. It doesn't have to be a Subaru SAS one either. But that way the extended warranty company has a working business relationship with the repair facility and are more op to trust and work with them. Not like some cheapo extended warranty from some other state that are a dime a dozen with no interest in helping you out in the least. And there are a LOT of those out there. Knotsure 01-27-2007, 02:18 PM With the Subaru warranty (Added Security) i've had no problems in getting any repairs done (fuel leak and all). I'm not modded, so I don't know how it would be for that. Mavrik 01-27-2007, 02:56 PM SAS (Subaru Added Security) is a very good warranty to have but acts the same as your factory warranty in respect to mods. Other extended warranty that requires an adjuster to come out and look at the repair, take photos and what not are a lot more complicated with claims. Once they come out, take some photos of your car and its modded... forget any claims from being covered from then on. armand1 01-27-2007, 04:03 PM As long as the car is still within the basic warranty period, you can buy a Subaru Added Security extended warranty from any authorized US Subaru dealer. It pays to shop around, as 40-50% of the list price is dealer markup. You should be able to get 20-30% off list price pretty easily. Note: the above apparently only applies to the original owner of the car. tspax2 01-28-2007, 02:13 AM I think the retail price is $1950 for a 100k bumper to bumper (?) with a turbo. The difference in prices are based on the deductable. Subaru also offers a package which includes all scheduled maintenance for a 100k. surowrxa 01-28-2007, 07:43 AM Does anyone know the prices on purchasing an extended warranty on a used 06 STi? Is it worth the money ? Don't forget to look over the car with a microscope befrore you purchase an extended warranty. "Returned to stock" cars have a history of trouble with any warranty work, especially the STI. aenima4six2 01-28-2007, 11:05 PM Thanks guys! you've been of much help. |
