I've heard that the interiors of the new RS and WRX are kinda... unimpressive. How would they compare to the interior on my Civic? I'd rather not take a step down on interior quality if I could.

Any thoughts?

Like the interior better than my 2000 Jetta and you know how nice vw interiors are. Look at those seats too http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif

While the interior in the WRX is far from spectacular, it's nicer than a civic.

Is that leather trimed steering wheel?
Is that standard for RS or is it comes with a package? Because I once sat in a 02 RS and the steering wheel is like plastic.

Umm...that's crazy talk. The interior is nicer than any Civic I've ever seen.

Yes, the RS comes with standard leather-wrapped steering wheel, gearshift knob, and parking brake handle. I can't speak for the quality of the leather, though. To be honest, I can't tell much of a difference between it and the plastic wheel in my wife's Outback. Maybe that just means the Subaru plastic wheels are exceptionally good, though http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif

Why don't you go to your local subaru dealership and have a look for yourself? Besides, are you gonna buy a car w/ out even driving it first? But to answer your question, I am quite fond of my WRX interior, but I miss the smell of the leather in my GTIhttp://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/frown.gif

eew.. dead cows just aren't for me. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

I don't think I'll ever buy a car with leather. I decided against buying an S4 because I couldn't get one without leather seats. too hot and burns your butt off in the summer, and too cold and your butt freezes to it in the winter. Not to mention that you keep sliding all over the place when out on the track... this simply can't do.

Anyways, the WRX interior is nicer than a Civic, in my opinion. The steering wheel in particular is pretty cool. Strangely enough though, the leather seems a little harder than the leather on my 2.5RS steering wheel, so I first thought it was plastic! I think the stock 2.5RS steering wheel feels nicer to me actually.

Efoo...
I don't have to worry about those freezing winters, I live in FLhttp://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/rolleyes.gif As far as the heat, your car cools quicker w/ leather seating, the fabric holds in the heat (maybe the leather is hotter at first though)!
But you are right about track racing, your arse will slide all overhttp://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif

hehe thanks everyone! i just read from several users and from some reviews (bah, car reviewers...) that the interior used some "cheap" materials... but i guess not, since you're all happy with it!

i checked one out as soon as the dealership got one, and i didnt notice anything particularly "cheap" about the interior, but then i read what i read and got a bit leery... but thanks for clearing things up! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

My 98 Impreza has a lighter tweed type material where the newer ones have the checkerboard pattern. I've seen the checkerboard cloth 'fuzz out' where mine still looks new. Anyone else experience this?
