View Full Version : AP1 wont switch RT maps
LuvJuggs 02-04-2007, 02:17 PM I have an 05 STi running Stg2 93 V111 Base Map AP V1.2
Problem: I cant switch the Real Time map, I am not talking about viewing current map. I switch map to Antitheft A, B or valet and nothing car drives as usual. I tried ECU reset etc and nothing I cant switch maps but AP says Sending Done OK.
LuvJuggs 02-04-2007, 10:22 PM anyone??
LuvJuggs 02-06-2007, 08:48 PM Now what do I do...no one over at cobb is replying either
wrxdrvr 02-06-2007, 08:55 PM I would download the latest maps and the newest AP 1.3 and reflash the base map on the car to the newest version and make shure the rt maps are the same.
parker/slc/gc8fan 02-06-2007, 10:08 PM Did you try it with the car on? (or running to be sure) It may help if you gave an error messege or at-least somthing that sounds like diagnosis work.
If you want your problem solved quickly you should call Cobb. There is only so much that can be done on forums.
Have you searched and read the threads that allready exist about realtime map loading? I bet they can help alot if you let them. If you had researched (or read the instructions maybe) you would know that when using "show current map", the accessport actually does not show the realtime map.
If there were a real issue you would probably be getting an error messege.

I am aware of how the "View current map" works, I am not talking about that as stated in the original post I believe. Whats happening is when I load a RT map with Ignition on or car idling the AP says Sending Done, Press OK. I didnt think the RT map change was working so I put the Anti Theft map A & B and the Valet mode as they should kill the car and valet should make the rev limiter 3200rpm IIRC and I am still able to drive the car like I stole it.
The diagnostics of the AP is working fine, if I try to load the map without the ignition on or with the engine off etc the AP says it was unable to communicate with the ECU. I have tried to use the reset feature also and load the map. I have to try several times before the map will actually switch.
I did post the same thread over at the cobb forums and there was some interest from people at cobb and they asked for some info which I PM'd and posted but that was a few days ago Currently I feel like I am being left dead in the water. But I will call now.

I tried searching for the newer firmware for the AP but didnt find it. Do you have a link for it? It would be for an 05 STi. Also would I have to unmarry the AP before I updated the firmware?
Thanks in adv
wrxdrvr 02-07-2007, 12:04 PM Sorry, I can't seem to be able to find it for the STi either...
LuvJuggs 02-07-2007, 10:31 PM i called cobb today the guy on the phone seemed new, didnt really seem to know the product. I am on business so the car isnt with me and he wasnt really getting it, anyways gotta call him back on friday when i am with the car.
He wasnt sure of the firmware revisions which was a bumer
parker/slc/gc8fan 02-08-2007, 01:45 PM Look at cobbtuning.com
The link is in thier news section.
Can you read live boost?
Can you change base maps?
Does the cable seem to be firmly connected?
sean96gsr 02-08-2007, 08:46 PM I have the SAME problem...
And it's really pissing me off.
I have an 06 STi, and when I load a realtime map as per the instructions, it says it is complete but nothing happens. I know this because the valet mode and antitheft mode drive just like the stage 1 base map. Still hit 17PSI, pull to redline, etc. I have also tried to do it idling, tried to turn the ignition to "off" after loading, etc. NOTHING works.
WTF

If I change the Base map I know it will start working in RT as well, this happened before also. Now I dont wanna change base map so we can find the problem.

Sean I assume you have an AP1?
I am calling Cobb tomorrow in the afternoon/evening EST. I suggest you do too so we can get this fixed and post whats the problem here. Looks like new vowes for Cobb. I can only imagne how many guys out there are changing RT's and they are not changing, especially those loading a 91oct map because they cant get 93.

Although the car doesn't feel any faster to me. Maybe because I removed the SPT Intake to add the Accessport?
Also, does anyone know where the firmware updates for an AP1 are on the COBB site? I can only find the v2.

Yes mine is also an AP v1, I purchased it used and installed it today. My car doesn't really feel any faster, but the live boost is reading up to 17.5 so I assume its working.
I was flashed with 91 octane stage 1, I switched to 93 octane stage 1 just now (I was running 93 in the car, I just thought it would be safer). I haven't tried a realtime map yet.
I called COBB and left a message around 4:45 their time.
Let's hope we get this resolved.

05stigi 02-20-2007, 10:17 PM same things happening to me in my 05 sti. i load the realtime map and it says sending done press ok and then nothing happens. tried this with all the maps.
parker/slc/gc8fan 02-21-2007, 12:59 PM Well, Reading live boost and and realtiem map switching use the same line on the cable, so thats OK.
Have you tried erasing and downloading new maps from Cobb? It's possible these could have been corrupted.
