View Full Version : 2006 WRX Stage 2, Just Finished BUT...?
red5kc 02-05-2007, 07:25 PM I just got done flashing my 2006 wrx with the stage 2 ACN 91 map...(TBE cobb) I took it around the block and i don't feel any difference until 4000rpm...I looked at the curves on Cobb's website and supposedly I am suppose to gain a lot more power earlier on right, in the 3000 range? Can it be the ECU hasn't learned yet? I literally have 5 miles on my car since the flash...I just expected it to be noticeable, but maybe not...maybe I should be patient...I have just seen other posts about people noticing the difference from the get go...other stage 2'ers please give me some feedback!
hondaeater69 02-05-2007, 09:31 PM i would say the difference should be noticeable. cobb is having some issues with the V2 AP... you may want to unmarry, DL a new map, and reflash.
Bbasso 02-06-2007, 01:35 AM Keep driving it, let it learn.
parker/slc/gc8fan 02-06-2007, 02:54 AM Maps cant be downloaded when the AP is uninstalled (iirc).
Try un-installing and then re-installing with the same stage two ACN map.
NothnButTheFacts 02-06-2007, 03:13 AM i just loaded my AP v2 on my 02 WRX today and felt similar to red... no power upgrade and according to the liveboost function i am not seeing more than 10 or 11 lbs of boost after driving for about 20 miles. i think maybe i need to give it a few hundred miles before i go through the trouble of adjusting the WG arm... Any other advice V2 Stg2'ers?

AWDnutjob 02-08-2007, 02:36 PM been there done that.... no difference..... just gave me he ecu resett option on my ap , other than that no difference
MarkRx 02-08-2007, 02:51 PM reset ecu option, boost gauge that works, slightly quicker startup, and when you click view current map, you can view what realtime map (if loaded) you are running, and you can see what basemap you are using. common misconception is when you are running say stage 2 93 and you want to see what realtime map you are running, it will say no map found. if you load economy mode or an anti theft map different from the base map then it will show you under the realtime map view mode. this may not make any sense now, but i'll bet you'll stumble on it later and say wtf?
AWDnutjob 02-08-2007, 02:55 PM mylive data is still a little laggy...... hmm i dont know gonna start from scratch and reinstall EVERYTHING
parker/slc/gc8fan 02-08-2007, 02:55 PM Make sure stage two is your base map.
EDIT:
I'd srongly consider a mechanical problem being the casue too.
AWDnutjob 02-08-2007, 02:58 PM i uninstalled. updated ap thoruhg pc... then went out and installed ap aith basemap stage 2 acn 91 ( cali car ) still thining i have a leak i jus t went out and listened/sniffed around my exhaust an d i think i have aleak where my down bolts to my cat back
fhblake04 02-12-2007, 01:16 AM Any resolution to this yet?
MarkRx 02-14-2007, 01:27 AM i've been running stage-2 for about a week now and it seems my car is getting slower. it pulls the same in 4th like a stock or stage-1 car. i feel like i wasted time and money on the downpipe.
gitteeup 02-14-2007, 05:36 PM Mine instantly felt faster and boost came on much faster on my 2006 WRX.
Did you replace the gaskets? I used all new gaskets during the install to avoid leaks that seem to be a common cause of power loss- My car only had 1200 miles on it when I did it too. Point being my gaskets were practically new but a few extra dollars for gaskets while you have everything apart seems like good headache prevention.
AWDnutjob 03-04-2007, 03:25 PM my car still lags and seems slower.... an d i have had everything on my car for over 300 miles now... i am taking everything today and reinstalling with nw gaskets.. hoping for a fix......
snovvbrdr 03-05-2007, 01:41 AM have you uploaded the newest firmware yet?
MarkRx 03-05-2007, 02:02 AM I have... I'm having an issue with boost spike now, I don't know what my AFR's are or EGT's. I need a wideband and looks like i'll need a protune. What happened to these so called reliable off the shelf maps cobb?????
ProoF 03-05-2007, 09:05 AM This thread has my attention since I just purchased an 07 WRX. Currently, my car has 500 miles on it and around 1K-1500, I am looking to do some modifications.
I was planning on the AccessPort V2.0, however I am a little hesitant now. Does it seem the problem is occuring with the preloaded maps or are people having trouble creating their own in reference to a custom tune?
I have heard great things about Cobb, one of the reasons I do not want to go with EcuTek, however I am hoping this issue is resolved :(
06wrxkiid 03-08-2007, 02:17 AM on a 2006 wrx with stage 2 whats the boost level at? im hitting 14psi is that ok?
jupiterrex 03-08-2007, 08:39 AM on a 2006 wrx with stage 2 whats the boost level at? im hitting 14psi is that ok?
I have noticed that depending on the exhaust diameter and restriction, boost levels at stage two fluctuate. My friend dylan got about 14.5 pounds with a TXS stealth back and a 2.5in prodrive Axleback. When he put the 3in RFL-ti on, the boost jumped to about 16.
Vlade2 03-13-2007, 08:45 PM You should feel a HUGE difference, a big enough difference to where its hard to wipe the smile off your face difference. Stage 2 has A LOT of torque down low. You should feel it spooling by at least 2500. This is what I have experience in riding in my roommate's 06 TR.
parker/slc/gc8fan 03-13-2007, 09:20 PM Target boost for a stage two 06 WRX is 15.2 PSI + or - .7 psi.
OTS maps are made to work on as many cars as possible, and they do work for most cars. Unfortunatly, not every car is mechanically identical, so one map that works for a buddies car, will probably respond a little different on your car. It's just the way cars are, and no one should tell you otherwise.
I imagine the map your using is the same map that other 06 users are getting great results with. Apparently your car runs to a different spec than theirs.
The key here is going to be figuring out what is different on your car compared to the car the map was developed on.
Have you called Cobb?
WrxSlvrWgn 03-15-2007, 09:32 PM I did the Vishnu trick http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=302047 right after I loaded the base map. I saw/felt instantly the difference after i completed the steps correctly. I was even a bit above with a spike but the car corrected for it later on. This was on a 02 and done in Feb 2003.
Doh ....not sure my post will be of any help here.
EnterTheDragon 03-18-2007, 02:03 AM for what it's worth,
My jump to stage 2 vs stage 1 was huge....stage 2 felt so much faster. It did take a couple weeks to really feel the change though...at first I wasn't impressed. I was hitting 15psi with the OTS map.
WRXLTD 03-18-2007, 10:20 AM Very informative thread here.
I too was thinking about the Cobb/AccessPort Stage 2 when I install my DP (I feel Stage 1 is a waste for my 2007 WRX), but this seems to be strike two.
First strike was the Cobb maps do not include the use of an SPT aftermarket, now this thread comes along.
Sounds more & more that I'm just going to get a protune done after my DP install and be done with it.

Your 2007 WRX has brand new ECU programming and I suggest you look into its capabilities or find threads from shops who have done the research already (I've seen at least one mention the 2007 'adaptive' ecu).
For everyone here with a 2002-2005 wrx, best of luck to you, my roommate had the cobb stage 2 (with invidia tbe) flash on his 03 and we couldn't really feel much of a difference. On my 06 TR on the other hand... the difference is outstanding. Just make sure you use a boost gauge or plug the AP in and get a reading above stock. My TR only ran 13.8-14.2 PSI even with an open helix downpipe. It was still a huge improvement over stock but I had to blow another $200 on streettuner to improve that to 15.5... ****ing cobb..
parker/slc/gc8fan 03-22-2007, 06:56 PM Unfortunately not all cars are created equal.
It's easier to figure that out once the car has a good tune on it.
i'm reminded of the 20 WHP difference we saw in two stock 07 STi's. The only difference was how the car was broken in (didnt follow manufacturer specs).
Dirtyhobo010 03-23-2007, 12:43 AM Once I flashed my APv2.0 to stage 2 I could feel a big difference. I am getting boost readings that peak out right around 16.2 in 5th gear but average about 15.8. I have the TXS TBE so this might make a difference.
bzbuzz 03-29-2007, 05:48 PM stage 2 is big power difference for me. I logged the boost level using ecuexplorer, and I hit max 15.3psi.
JLwrx06 04-01-2007, 08:11 PM did any of you fellow 06 guys that put on a non catted dp have to port your wg on the turbo. i have my non-catted dp for like 8 months and been itching to go to stg2. but the problem is with this boost creep issue any of you 06'ers run into that as well??
also is there any new version of the stg 1 or stg 2 maps for the version 1 ap?

i have a catless downpipe stage 2 apv2. no boost creep at all and i think it depends what downpipe you have.the helix and cobb i know don't have alot of boost problems but the invidia v3 do.
