View Full Version : ProTUNER Partnership in Redmond, WA!
smartservice 02-08-2007, 02:54 AM We're excited to announce that Smart Service has partnered with Dynoauthority (aka FAME) in Redmond Washington. You now have an official ProTUNER close to home. Tuning is performed by experienced tuning vetran Tim Hadfield. Tim's prior experience includes many high end European vehicles including a local Ferarri Enzo. Tim is excited about the infinite possibilities the ProTUNER provides to Subaru owners. Dynoauthority uses the same Mustang AWD Dynomometer used by COBB Tuning to insure accurate results.
You can read more on the subject at the following address:

kirkeemonster 02-08-2007, 04:46 AM Very cool! How's he on UTECs?
jdmtyper2001 02-08-2007, 02:50 PM Tim is familiar with UTEC's also, having several tunes under his belt with them.
Give us a call @ 425-869-8324 with any of your questions.

Doctor Subie 02-19-2007, 04:42 PM what's the charge, approx., for a 06 sti w/fpgreen, meth/water inj., 2 maps? PM me, thnx!
twizzstyle 02-20-2007, 02:03 PM Ooh, I'd like to know price as well. Stage 2 WRX, already on the OTS Cobb map, but looking for a bit smoother/more power.
Was going to go down to PDX, but this is MUCH closer!
JRach 02-20-2007, 03:03 PM Saw the Enzo when it was at their shop... i'll be in there soon :)
jdmtyper2001 02-21-2007, 03:25 PM The AWD tuning time is $195.00 an hour. Baseline runs are $150.00 and hour.

twizzstyle 02-21-2007, 04:33 PM Have any rough idea how long it would take to tune? I saw your website, I see $25 for setup and $195/hr for tuning, but have no idea how long it would take to tune.
I was going to go to PDXTuning for a tune, and I am still leaning towards them due to their expertise and overwhelming good reviews, but Redmond = 15 minute drive instead of a few hours drive.
Also, a friend has an Evo IX with a ECUFlash tune on it, just installed cams and is looking to re-tune it. Do you guys have experience tuning Evo's?
112nick 02-21-2007, 06:28 PM I can attest to Tim's abilities to tune Subaru's. He does a great job. We've used his abilities at Speedware.

The OTS maps are really pretty good at stage 2. If you're looking to smooth the existing map out it shouldn't take much more than an hour, two at the most. You are more than welcome to come down and meet us and see the facility. Tim is very detailed as a tuner and is actually in progress with his eg33 in a GC8 chassis.
As far as the Evo goes, we do not have the ECUFlash software. Tim is looking into some open source software, but to be honest with you the COBB AccessPort will be out for the Evo's by then which will be awesome! He has tuned several Evo's with UTEC's & had great results also. After seeing the COBB ProTuner software, in my opinion there is nothing better on the market for the money.

No problem Gabe!!!
As far as I know Tim has no personal experience with the Hydra. but, as you saw, he is a fantastic and detailed tuner. Im sure for him to learn the user interface for that system would be no problem. The reason he has not used Hydra is that Phil from Element Tuning came out and did a group tune a while back. Let me know when you guys are ready and we'll make it happen for ya!

suddenthomas 03-05-2007, 08:59 PM Ok well we have another bugeye utec with vf39 ready. Another Johann creation this car is sick-show worthy. Any way I will talk to Johann and find out when they are going to come down. Talk to you guys later!

Bad Wagon 03-06-2007, 02:14 PM Yeah FAME is a great place. I sent a friend there with:
2002 WRX
TBXS UTEC
TBXS FMIC
TBXS RFL BOV
Turbo Smart Manual Boost Controller
Perrin Intake
Perrin Fuel Rails
Warbro 225
PE 650cc injectors
Crank Pulley
Borla Header
U-P and D-P 3" exhaust
262 WHP. He said they did a very good job and the money was well worth it with how much tuning and pulls on the dyno they did. I am looking for a place to tune my Hyrda and I have a couple other people I will be sending your way in the near future.
Johann
Bad Wagon 03-06-2007, 02:16 PM Haha I can read, I guess you guys have already herd the story.

True, and the rest of the story will tell you that we got a 50+ WHP gain from tuning!!!! Not to mention the major difference in drivability.
Can't wait to see some more of the infamous Johann creations!!

jdmtyper2001 03-19-2007, 12:54 PM any experience tuning with meth?
Yes, Tim has tuned with water/meth injection on several occasions. In fact hes working with a Maserati BiTurbo with the Aquamist system right now.
Which system are you running?

Yay,
Dyno Authority finally has it's own user name.
You all can direct your questions/comments over here now!!
Rapp144 03-26-2007, 09:08 PM So for one hour of tuning it would cost what, $220 for the first hour and $195 for subsequent hours if needed??? And yes I saw your post of $195 an hour for dyno tuning and $150 for base runs which confused me somewhat. So please clarify as I would only need a tune which would have one base line pull and many pulls for the tune...:D

We don't charge by the "pull". We just charge by the hour. If you want to have your car tuned, then we just go off the tuning rate. I realize that if we had to charge by the pull it would get very confusing. I hope this awnsers your question,
Ryan
Well after seeing the results on the other cobb stage 2 STi you guys recently tuned I am VERY interested in having you guys tune my car now. I am just wanting an improved stage 2 91 octane map, i would really appreciate it if you could PM me a more accurate ballpark price for the tune. Thank you and look forward to getting my car tuned.
Dyno Authority 03-27-2007, 07:04 PM PM Sent CJ!
Rapp144 03-27-2007, 10:23 PM urrm I know you don't charge by the pull:rolleyes: Again the first hour is what 220 is what I see on the price list and 195 per hour for subsequent hours.
The reason I ask is that SS, a few months ago, quoted an ungodly hourly price. I assume since you now have an agreement there are no hidden costs.:)

You are correct, there are no hidden charges.:) Unlike some other shops we also include afr's, etc. ( I find it hard to tune without that bit of info). I appologize if I offended you about the "pulls" as some other shops also charge by the pull for some reason. Also just to clarify, the $25.00 admin charge is a one time only, so if you wish to return at a later date (i.e, more mods) you no longer have to pay that again. In addition, in the scenario that there are software, hardware issues as we are still new to the COBB Protuner you do not have to worry about getting "screwed" on your time on the dyno. We want to build a good relationship with our customers, not just get you in for a "quick & dirty" tune to take your money & kick you out.
What sort of mods do you have and I can PM you a rough, but close quote.
Thanks,
Ryan

Thanks Ryan,
I have a MY03 WRX, Protorque High Stall Torque Converter (4EAT), FP16G, TurboXS TMIC, JDM STi Pink injectors, ProDrive 3-Port Boost Solenoid and a MY04 STi fuel pump. Also I have StreetTuner and I've almost completed the WGDC table. The High Stall Torque Converter is a pain to tune so I figured I would get the dynamic advance as close to 5s as I could. I'm real close but can't seem to peg it. Soon I should be able to get the other tables as good as I can get them. I will need to have it protuned for the final map.
Question - can the final map be in a ST formate.
Thanks

hi Ryan
If you wish to promote dyno authority,
we are going to need you to get registered as a NASIOC vendor.
It is fine for Smart service to announce your partnership (which is great!) :)
But in order for you to offer quotes, participate in vending....
Dyno Authority is going to have to obtain it's own vendor ID here on nasioc
Please refrain from futher discussions regarding pricing, vending, etc.
if you have any questions regarding this, please let me know!
thank you,
Jamie + Moderating staff

Dyno Authority 03-29-2007, 06:42 PM Just a piece of information.
Dyno Authority has been tuning all makes of vehicles since 1999.
Some of you may have already been here for COBB Dyno Days w/Christian last year and the year before. We are ONLY new to the COBB ProTuner Software, and experience is racking up fast for that! Just though I would throw that out there for some of you that have never heard of us. We are not a new, or fly by night shop. I realize that it is difficult to choose a shop to tune your baby. However, we are here to help. If you have and questions, feel free to call and ask for Ryan or Tim.

04luchini 04-01-2007, 10:26 PM Just curious do you guys have any experience tuning different kind of turbos? Such as 20g's and rotated setups?
Dyno Authority 04-02-2007, 11:58 AM Just curious do you guys have any experience tuning different kind of turbos? Such as 20g's and rotated setups?
Yes we do,
Tim has most recently tuned a 16g in a bugeye and also an APS SR-56 in an 04' STi. I'm sure a rotated 20g would be no problem for him.
