anybody using a meth kit without the AccessPort??? in other words, running only a meth and 91+ octane tune?

obvious cons are if you run out of meth...youre screwed!!! cant switch to a "gas" only map. or youre the type to always keep the meth tank full...???

hoping to hear from those running a meth kit without accessport, and what their experiences have been. if yours is a daily driver, how often are you filling the meth tank? looking for some real world, every day drivers-users.

thanks!!!

I run AP, however you can safely run meth without a tune. Adding meth alone will not curve your timing, it wont change your boost. It will reduce your internal engine temps. As long as you select a smaller injector size so you do not flood the cylinders you will be ok.
having EM and getting a tune just allows your tuner to curve timing and boost to get you more power.

That is just keeping it simple.

thanks for that.

i should have stated my set up. '04 STi, FPGreen, Perrin TMIC, and supporting mods. i currently have an Ecutek tune, and am trying to keep it simple. once the meth kit is in, i would be getting re-tuned for the kit...no accessport which means no going back to (Cali) 91 oct ONLY.

feedback from similar set ups (dosent have to be a green, etc) would help me alot.

thanks again.

DO you have the map selector or whatever it is called, lets you change maps on the fly? I think you can have up to 5 maps. I am not real familliar, just going off reading threads.
If so you can use my advice above. You can also have an on/off switch to control the meth system.

Good luck, I will keep an eye on your thread just in case you get mislead along the way.

man...you sound like me!!! i don't know crap...lol...!!!

no, Ecutek only gives you one tune or map, and there is no switching. the accessport (which i don't have and am trying to avoid if at all possible) allows you to switch between maps...which, in theroy, really seems like the way to go.

thanks, Jay!!!

Ecutec offer a program that will allow you to switch between maps using the window defogger switch
Actually I have been doing this a while, just not with ecutec. I pefer ST and am getting involved with open ecu and tactrix very soon.
