I tried to look around to see if anyone else is experiencing this, but to no avail. I have the Coolingmist WI kit, running 50/50 methanol and distilled water. I don't run the car hard very often, so I only go through a gallon of 50/50 every 1.5 to 2 months. After a month or so, my car knocks during 3rd/4th gear WOT runs, while it would never do it with a fresh mix.
Does methanol evaporate after being mixed with water, is this the problem at hand? I am using the 1 gallon tank included with the stage 2 Coolingmist kit, it has a screw on black cap with what looks to be a cork insert on it. I don't know if the meth is evaporating, leaving me with a less than 50/50 mix, or if something else is happening that I'm not thinking about. Does the Snow Performance "Boost Juice" have a longer shelf life without these concerns? Thanks to anyone who can help me out here.

I think it may evaporate out or become dilluted ( cant think of a better word) over that period of time. I would say to try using it more often and see what happens.
I noticed a little dif with my alky also, but I run a smaller bottle and use it often so it doesnt set as long. You could try a smaller bottle as well.

When you say diluted, do you mean it loses it's potency, for lack of a better word? Does anyone know for sure? If that's true, I guess I could just fill the bottle halfway so it doesn't sit for so long, but that would just annoy me...
bump, this is a good question. I plan on using the Spec-C 12 liter tank and I certainly don't want 12 liters of mixture going bad...

You have to look at it like this. Whenever you mix two liquids together one of them is heavier than the other. This means that over time one will wettle to the bottom. Also atomization can kick in and somewhat change the properties of the liquids. For example water freezes before meth, if all the water crystalized you would be running straight meth. Now if you added another 50/50 to that mixture you have decreased the meth because of the water being crystalized.
IMO these things can occur over time. This is not from a scientific point of view, rather a real life thinking process.
There are a couple scientists on here maybe one of them will join in and break it down into words and formulas that we cant comprehend.

Anyone else have any opinions or facts?

Methanol does evaporate and does absorb water. SO I guess it could get dilluted, over time. I usually run, bottles of, 90% rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol), and mix w/ water a 60-40 mixture. 70% rubbing alcohol, I usually use more alcohol.... like 70-80 percent to water mixture (since water is already involved.
True methanol is also very corrosive, but in a diluted state, it maybe, like washer fluid, it may leave corrosive debris, deposits.
