Thinking about porting and polishing my 93 STI standard Imprezza headers then wrapping them.

Is this worth doing or is it better just to buy a new stainless header and wrapping it.
Cheers
Pete

If you have a place where you can get them put through a process called "Extrude Honing," I'd say go for it, if the price is right. Extrude Honing is a process in which a putty is forced through the runners(intake, exhaust, or engine heads) at high pressure levels, causing material to be removed and also leaves behind a smooth finish. Obviously the concern here would be removing too much material and winding up with thin walls on the OEM cast iron unit that would be more prone to crack under demanding driving conditions. Personally, I don't think that you would see the same benefits as you would from an aftermarket header. I think that the aftermarket header plus heat wrap would net you the most power & torque increase.

it seems like a voodoo mod to me no one ever has conclusive numebrs to back it up

if you want to try something with your exhaust get a set of equal length headders off ebay
