Ok, I know it's feasible, but out of curiosity, for those with 7" width wheels (stockers or otherwise), has anyone gone with 205 width tires (more specifically, winter tires). With all the snow we've received here in NY it's made me wish I had thinner tires for winter, so I am just curious if anyone has tried it...I think I might anyway, but I thought I would poke around here first.

Check the spec of the tires. Min and max rim width are parameters listed at tirerack.

PS I think 205 fits 6.5-7.5 but check specs.

Oh they should fit - it was more of an experience kind of question...if anyone had tried it and liked it, etc

I'm running 15" gravel wheels (15x6.5") over the 4-pots with 195/65-15.

A 7" wheel is actually very common in OE. Audi and BMW have used 16X7 wheels for their 205/55x16 OE tires for years. I have my winter tires on 16x7 wheels (205/55x16) and I think it's actually the prefered size for the stock 205/55x16 tire. Who knows why Subaru insists on using a 6.5" width wheels as OE (cheaper?).
