Ok well im having trouble one what size tires to buy. The wheels i have are off of a 02 wrx, they are 16 inches and im just trying to figure out what tires will actually fit on the rim. Factory size for these rims is 205/55/16 which will be bigger than stock. With that in mind ive narrowed mys search down to 205/45/16 , 205/50/16, 225/45/16 and 225/50/16 what im actually wondering is whether any of those sizes wont fit on the rims. Please help.

I had 225/50/16s mounted to 16" rims with fine results. Going wider gives a potentially larger contact patch. The 50% aspect ratio keeps about the same sidewall height, which Subaru intended for the 16" wheel on my stock WRX rims. The tires will appear to 'bulge' a little more due to the wider tread, but they fit and run fine on mine.
FWIW, I went with Firestone Wide Ovals, which are nearly identical to the Bridgestone S-03s (same company) at a lower cost. They grip like mad, and are really impressive even in the wet (I drive a LOT of wet roads due to our rainfall amounts each year). Highly recommended. At tirerack.com you can find some info on them. You must have an alternate set of tires for snow/ice/cold if you go with them, naturally.
Good luck.

Actually, the Wide Ovals are a twin of the Potenza RE-750. Their tread pattern is nothing like the S-03.
To the OP: 225-wide tires might rub on your rear struts. Your best bet is to use the Miata tire calculator (http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html) so you can keep the diameters consistent.

I should have mentioned that these will be going on a 95 impreza coupe with that in mind will the 225's rub? I used the calculator before i made this thread, and thats why i was asking if any of the 225's fit on the rim. i think i just may go with the 205/50/16's only because i am not looking to spend a fortune one these.

I suppose the 750s ARE closer in tread pattern, although as I stare at them, they're all fairly similar.
Point: Wide Ovals = great performance for < top Bridgestones
