So... I think I'm experiencing a little bit of a piston slap... Not really sure but it kinda sounds like it to me. I know the older subaru folks LOVE the stuff... Has anyone tried it? And would it be fine if I mixed it with my mobil1?

You really shouldn't mix anything in your Mobil 1. Try the next higher grade perhaps.

Thanks guys, I read the post. And I still get a slight ticking/slap. I've heard that it could be hydraulics or belts.
And yea, b00 additives. I never do it, but the classic car guys live by that stuff. meh I suppose.
I'm at about 60k.

60K is nothin, your engine is barely broken in. make sure you are running the right viscosity for your climate, make sure your oil is full, and have your oil tested to be sure it's not shearing to all hell in 500 miles.

im not reccomending using marvel mystery oil in your subie... but it did work great when we were fixing up a '45 willys.
and i plan on using it this spring to try and get a '50 farmall cub going...

Use a 40 weight if you want to quieten piston slap.

Well yea, it's pretty mild where I live... Sacramento. Tends to get a little hot in the summer, but I never have any trouble. I was thinking about switching to 10w40 for the summer. Oh, I found 0w40 mobil1 at my local autozone. I was thinking about trying that next winter.

That's considered Mobil's best 30 weight. ;)
