According to Automotive News, changes to japanes laws will allow Toyota to buy Fuji Heavy Industries, maker of Subaru cars.
In October 2005, Toyota bought 8,7% of the actions of Fuji Heavy whe GM sold its 20% share. Toyota wanted to buy more Fujy Heavy shares but japanes antitrust laws could prohibit it. In Japan, it is not allowed to detain more than 50% of a product's market.
Together, Toyota and Subaru detain 45,6% of the japanese car market. But news laws will consider world market instead of domestic market. This change will take place in next april.
