Maybe the concept car was introduced in 87? But a 5 year lag between seems unlikely. Typo?

According to the Fact Book, my Outback is a cousin to the AH-64D Longbow Apache attack helicopter (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/aircraft/ah-64d.htm). (FHI makes those for the JDF, apparently.)

^ Um, I think not, some NASIOC member here said HE has a 1987 Impreza:

^ I think back in Japan, I really do think that the Impreza do came out in 1987. (:

Forester debut of first generation August 2001- uh that would probably be August 1997 wouldn't it? So much for facts.

That's the first I've ever heard of the Impreza being debuted in 1987, and actually even within that Subaru PDF, it says elsewhere that the Impreza was debuted in 1992. I think the 1987 reference is wrong. The car pictured above is a Leone (which was eventually replaced by the Impreza).

Stop this nonsense! Theres no if about it, the Impreza debuted everywhere for the 1993 model year. Anything earlier is NOT an impreza.

lol... Subaru designed the Impreza line based on Colin Mcraes experience with the Legacy in WRC... Seeing as the Legacy came out in 89, and FHI doesnt have a time travel division...

Seeing as the Legacy came out in 89, and FHI doesnt have a time travel division...AFAWK.. you have to remember just how good FHI is at keeping secrets under wraps.

How about planning for the Impreza model back in 1987? and finally released in 1993.

The impreza was planned after the legacy. The legacy was in development back in 87, but not the Impreza.

I uploaded a document that Kostamojen scanned:

http://www.boxer6.com/documents/EJTechDocuments_1989.pdf

It's got a lot of interesting technical details on the development of the EJ engine.
