Subiefest2 - Saturday April 7, 2007
Get ready for the largest All-Subaru motorsport event in history: Subiefest2 (http://www.subiefest.com), Saturday April 7, 2007 at Portland International Raceway in Portland, Ore.
Fresh from his PWRC run at Rally Mexico, Travis Pastrana of the Subaru Rally Team USA will be on hand with his #199 Rally Car to sign autographs, meet fellow Subaru owners and run the course. Plus, Nobushige Kumakubo & Kazuhiro Tanaka of Team Orange will be presenting the world premiere of the all-new 2007 Spec C STI D1 Drift Car! They're not just coming to sign autographs, they're there to get sideways: D1-style!
Subiefest is also the place to see the only All-Subaru Time Attack in the USA. Watch Phil Grabow and his Element Tuning STI return to Subiefest. Also, can the Crawford STI once again 'dominate' in a field, this time among a sea of Subarus? Come and see. Time Attack runs all day!
See http://www.subiefest.com for details and to buy advance tickets.
Subiefest2 is sponsored by Subaru (http://www.subaru.com) and Perrin Performance (http://www.perrinperformance.com) and is presented by Subiesport Magazine (http://www.subiesport.com).

The event itself is on Saturday. I'm sure that the festivities will continue through the weekend on an unofficial basis. :)
That's 2,097 mi from IL to Portland! Anyone coming from further away? We have a few coming down from Alberta, Canada, and several driving from Los Angeles... but those are only 1400 mi and 1000 mi respectively ;)
jdmmuscle 03-06-2007, 05:55 PM You forget that we'll be driving most of those 1400 mi through some of the best roads HWY1 has to offer ;), so this will be one tough journey!

Yes, there will be a storage option for TA competitors and vendors. We will have details sewn up shortly.

Fantastic as we had some concerns regarding the vunerability of jalopy sitting on our open trailor in a Motel parking lot :)

Nope, just snail because of the signature and check requirement. Keeps everything together. Given the level of chaos at the office right now -- with all the event pre-planning -- we need things to be as easy as possible. ;)

Well, drag racing ends around midnight and Portland has an insane number of strip clubs per capita. I'm sure you can find something to stay occupied ;)
No, but seriously, check the NW regional forum here on NASIOC, as I've seen some discussion of before- and after-event activities.

The Dancing Bare is about 1/4 mile from PIR. But supposedly the best is the A-crop in SE portland. But there are some places in N Portland near PIR.
Bar wise, The T (Twilight) Room is on Lombard, about a mile from PIR. Or for your karaoke needs there is the Albi down off interstate, again about a mile from PIR. Then theres all the stuff downtown and around that area.
Hey Ryan, did you get my PM?
stiguy21 03-11-2007, 03:14 PM How much are tickets? Our internet here in Iraq blows and wont let me open the subiefest page.
generalee69 03-11-2007, 03:54 PM This time trial event they are going to run is really screwed up!! The format is screwy but other than that! They really need to have a showroom stock class or something if they are gonna let the Crawford Performance car run in the "street class". I was very much considering running this event until I saw that. I don't feel like spending $250 to get my a$$ kicked by that car. If anyone on this board has any pull with the guys putting subifest on convince them to open up a stock class for the time attack event please!!
ricochet 03-11-2007, 08:36 PM The classes as we have them helps keep the field a managable size. We have a lot of stuff happening on (and off) the track this year and can't spend every minute running cars in the TA. We also have to give Team Orange and Pastrana some time, plus get it all cleared off for drags starting at 6pm (through midnight). We'd like to make the TA open to a lot more competitors, but we also don't want to get in over our heads and make the event a complete mess in the process.
If this next event goes smoothly (much bigger than #1, plus different timing equipment) we'll look at at expanding classes for 2008. If it doesn't go smoothly, well, we'll see.
Travisboost 03-12-2007, 07:26 PM I'll be there! Road trip from Sea-Town baby!
irnironman1287 03-13-2007, 02:30 AM So I'm contemplating driving 16 and 1/2 hrs., according to mapquest, to go there. But I'm kinda thinkin it's to far cause i would have to turn right around the next day and come home. Why did my parents have to send me to college?
jdmmuscle 03-13-2007, 02:50 AM Lol sucks to hear... well we're driving out in a caravan with a group of 12maybe 15 cars! you're welcome to join us.
ricochet 03-13-2007, 10:55 AM Oh, and we had classed the Crawford car incorrectly. They've added a cage, and will be running in Unlimited. Looks like "Street" is suddenly lot more competitive. ;)
jdmmuscle 03-13-2007, 11:09 PM I may have to call quirt and the gang, if they're making the drive than can join the caravan...

Have m8d powah!? Show it off at Subiefest in Portland and you could win a set of Dunlop DZ101 tires! During "halftime" a panel of celebrity judges will be on hand to rate your ability to show off power in your Subaru. Yes, that's right, it's a burnout contest! It's free to enter, just sign the waiver and you're in. Listen for the announcement at the show for details. Finally, something worthwhile you can do with your RE92 stockers! The Big Burnout contest is made possible by Perrin Performance and Dunlop.
