Hey guys,

I have a question the came from the previous wax debate.

Everyone was talking about "fake" zymol and suchforth. I have never bought Zymol myself but I got a bottole once as a gift for me and it was a light blue liquid bottle, she said it was like 25 dollars and the bottle looks like it is produced by the zymol company, it has the name all over it and the address on the back of it.

But what I wonder if you guys said zymol can cost upwards of $80, so I was wondering if this was real zymol.

It was called zymol cleanrer wax.

and if so, is it a good wax to use? and do you have any advice on applying it? my old cars pain job was so messed up that I didnt bother waxing it as all but with my new WRX I want to keep the best care of it.

The zymol which you are talking about is commonly sold in local stores like autozone, pepboys, walmart, etc...etc... and commonly called Zurtle Wax as it is actually made/mfg'd by turtle wax. (look on the back of the bottle and if it has Chicago, Il, it's from Turtle Wax...compare the addresses on turtle wax and the "zymol cleaner wax" and you'll find that they're the same). I actually purchased a bottle awhile back for 12.99 at walmart and found it to work very well; however, it lasts a very short time (less than a few days). I figured instead of beating around the bush on the store bought brands, I ordered the zaino bros. products.

It won the Consumer Reports test last year and also was rated as better than the expensive Zymol and even Zaino on some points in a test that was posted on the NSX site.

According to the back of the bottle... it's a real caranuba wax, so it should make the car look pretty good. However, caranuba is not very durable so you will have to rewax often. My reccomendation is to try out an acrylic system like Zaino, Klasse, or Blackfire... if you go with Klasse you can even top it with a caranuba wax for even better shine.

I LOVE the Zimol Japon wax which is made for Japanese paint. It is great stuff in every way. Only bad thing about it is that it doesn't last long so I only use it in the summer months. Winter I use 3M usually.

Well, I think I am going to use this zymol untill I buy the whole zaino line and spend a whole winter day in my garage protecting my paint.

I should have the zaino by the end of dec.

I've learned to take everything from Consumer Reports with a big chunk of salt. :rolleyes: I read that review, and they were pretty far off on the waxes. For goodness sake, they recommended BOSE speakers in their home speaker reviews. :eek:

Interestingly, www.thewaxtest.com shows Zymol Cleaner Wax to be quite poor (C- and D+ grades). Zaino's grades are better than any of the Zymols.

Well, I can only speak for the results I've gotten from Zaino. I'm quite simply amazed by the stuff. It's so easy to apply and remove...and the protection is awesome. Last weekend I found four different direct hits from pigeon bombing runs. I just used a wet towel and wiped them right off. No problem. Spritzed a little bit of Zaino Detail Spray and it's allllll good.
