I just ordered a usdm foglight kit to be installed into a 04 STi...however, is it possible to turn on and off the foglights without headlights turning on and off with it? If anyone knows how to bypass the headlight function, it would be a big help for me if someone can provide a step by step, preferably with either a diagram or pictures....

I did the same thing as post 14 using a constant power source with a piggy back fuse adaptor...that way I could run just my foglights with in any situation, by themselves, with parking lights, with headlights, or with high beams...the only down fall to wiring them this way is that you must remember to turn off your foglight switch when you shut the car off or else the little green light in the switch remains on and will eventually kill the battery

To my knowledge all subaru's have a continous light coming from the head lights, there called daytime running lights. To change this all you need to do is ad a loop in the emergency brake switch sensor wire. This sensor is what tells the car that you have the emergency brake on and your lights should turn off unless you have them set to continuosly come on. If you add this loop you should have the ability to just run your fog lights only using the factory controls. BUT you would also need to add another switch to connect the loop or detach the loop so that your headlights will come on when its dark outside. I did this in my previous car and it worked the best whenever we would get busted by the cops and we had to leave in a hurry. Your brake lights will stay off, as well as the rear liscense plate light. But the only downside to it is that your dash lights will not come on either...good luck

Just wire it to come on with the parking lights, that way you can run the fogs without the headlights, or with hi/lowbeams.
