I built a longblock 2.35L engine with Carrillo rods, Wiseco pistons and JUN cams, flowed big port heads. Just the longblock, without cam gear, or idler pulleys. I did supply a new belt with the long block. Engine is installed in a 2003 WRX with 6-speed, FMIC, GT30 rotated turbo, Nismo 740cc injectors, Autronic ECU, the works.
Engine was run in for 2000 km using a low-pressure map and then mapped with a basic map for 1.5 bar (about 20 psi) before putting it on a rolling road for the final fine tuning. Engine ran fine, strong performance on basic map.
Then I get a call, that the belt skipped 3 teeth, presumably while on the rolling road.
Any ideas to what may have caused the belt skipping?
