well i was wondering if it was possible to track on asymmetrical tires that were flipped i.e. "outside" on the inside of the wheel and "inside" on the outside of the wheel. supposedly the only negative in doing this was that the rain groove/tread were now on the outside, therefore having really bad wet traction. any thoughts on this. any input appreciated. thanks.
Really depends on the tire, but in the dry, its common for people to do it, especially for track/competition purposes then you're just looking to extend the life of your rubber.

cool thanks for the reply. just wanted to confirm if it was possible or not.

Possible? sure. Good idea? maybe not.
I've heard it done. Usually you end up with slightly less dry traction and really bad wet traction.

It won't affect the wet performance. It is not like running a directional tire the wrong direction.
The difference is the larger tread blocks on the outside for traction.

I've heard from those that have flipped Azenis RT 215 (the old ST* tire), that it definitely does have an effect on wet traction. I think it's a combination of camber and weight distribution across the face of the tire that makes the tread on the inside of the tire more important when avoiding hydroplaning.
