that plastic piece on the reservoir almost ALWAYS breaks when a 20g is swapped in.
You'd probably have to put in a TON of effort in to find a new reservoir, I'd JB Weld it back on and just never touch it again heh...

I am wondering if I can modify a usdm WRX one to work with a custom bracket....:o

those always brake, and yes you can modify a usdm wrx or sti one for that matter. If you want something that fits ..... contact MRT.

hows the progress going?

welp she is all the way in now, all coolant lines run, vac lines, gauges are still being run, got the tranny mount done finally it was being a bastard, put on the 3 inch DC cat back also. I am still looking for an EJ20G or WRX coolant resevoir cause mine broke. Also the crossover harness proved to be more of a pain in the ass than it was worth so I am going with a slightly different approach than normal but not using the harness anymore.

Next weeks goal is to finish up the wiring, head down to ohio to pick up my FMIC piping from the powdercoaters and drop some stuff off to be ceramic coated.

hmm might try pm'ing marnix and asking for the part number there is a decent chance its in the US system

im still a little uncertain of the wiring process.

any update on that harness conversion link?

it turned out to be a way bigger pain in the ass than it was worth. As stated by people who have done the swap before its just not worth the time and effort. I could have finished up half the wiring in the car by the time I did the harness and then still had a butt load more. I mite give it another atempt down the road with my buddies swap but for right now I am back burnering it.

lol going work/garage work/garage work/garage hahahaha.

I have about half the wiring done, still need to find a damn MAF connector cause mine was cut

I have heard I can use the 98 MAF sensor, so that is what I am going with...if anybody knows different *erhem* Jaxx *erhem* please chime in :o

Yes, it will be a Jecs unit, green sticker. Part number:
22680AA160 on the green sticker. Grab the maf too cause it is the same and you might want a spare!

how many hours on the wiring so far?

eh I would peg it at about 4 hours thus far...if you are handy with a wiring diagram it really is not hard at all. I had an incomplete harness with my motor so I am finding myself having to do a bit more work at fabricating up the harness, but all in all its going rather well.

do you basicly just connect the new connectors as you disconnect the old ones? is most of it plug and play? or is there alot of splicing into old sensors and ****?

well mine is sort of a special case. My engine harness didn't come complete, and it is by far not a plug and play. So what I am ending up having to do is splice the JDM ecu connectors where the USDM ecu connectors are and then using the USDM wiring harness that goes through the firewall to connect to the engine harness on the JDM engine. I think my setup is actually 100x worse than if you got it with a total uncut harness.

last nite I spent another 4 hours soldering connectors into the harness and I still have alot to go :(

keep at it man, itl be worth it in the end.

I am deciding whether to go with a powerFC once its rewired or just do a different standalone. I know brydon and the big power GC guys are using AEM, etc.

In our local FS, this guy has an ej20g engine harness for $50

so the 94 legacy harness is the same as the ej20g harness..except properly LHD??

he mentioned other ej20G parts, I assumed the harness was from said ej20g source (in the legacy/liberty form). If it's from the US turbo legacy, then it doesn't do you much good.

$50 for one of those? Jesus, I should start selling more of my stash!

BTW, an EJ22T harness can be made to work as the pinouts are identical. You do need to completely unwrap it, cut and splice out the coil pack stuff and convert it to COP using the connectors from the cut EJ20G harness. Then you also need to add 2 more pins at the connectors for the 2 additional coil wires. It's not particularly difficult to do. I did it recently for a friend's swap...

The ONLY hang up is that it's got to be a '91-92 Ej22T engine harness. The '93-94 harness used different connectors than the WRX Ej20G. For the connectors to match, it can only be the pre-facelift USDM Leggy turbo.

Get pictures of anything before you buy it. I will advise you if it will work or not, though you can probably tell for yourself...

Still think it could be an ej20g harness. Look at the other 94 turbo parts he is selling; JDM turbo, JDM turbo, Turbo Chimney........I asked but hasn't responded. Worth a PM to possibly save you a ton of hassle on the wiring.

I am getting no love from him via PM either.

its a 94 turbo legacy, as far as I am in the crazy super fab stage of my own wiring it prob isnt worth it to try and re-fab a new harness when I am so far on this one. Thank you though for the help. Also I found my boost pressure sensor so I can shoot you the part number off it to make sure the one you have will work.

thanks again everybody!

Start a new thread with which wires you are confused about. I should be able to answer.
