AZ Seat-Time

The next event is going to be held at PIR on Sunday March 25th. Yes that is next weekend. The prices will remain the exact same and so will the track time. We will be running in conjunction with CRA/NASA. So come on out and let's burn some laps. Remember to pre-register to save money.

Wait, does that mean we get a cheaper price than going through NASA? If it does, you're the man Chris. See you this Saturday.

Watch me win a free track day cause the ladies like me more... (well, actually my car - but I'll just assume is was me).

Chris, thanks for putting on a great track day... lots of quality track time, food, drinks and even some nice scenery. Everyone should definitely check this out... especially if you want a laid back, friendlier, less crowded track event. If you're just starting out this is a great way to get comfortable with what's going on.

Aaron, what setup was the guy in the red wagon running? I am curious why he ended up with the screwed up rod.

^just a stg 2 car. stock turbo, bigger tmic. not sure why the rod bearing failed...some issue with oiling. his wagon sees alot of track time, though. it's going to FAT wed morning for a 2.5 swap/vf34 :)

Red wagon is me :)

I wish I knew exactly what caused the failure, cause I would be sure to avoid it.

That motor has been tracked since day one pretty much, and modded since 1,000 miles.

If I was to hazard a guess I would blame the heat causing an oil breakdown, since my car has never run that hot before.

Or, since I haven't really run the car hard since it got hot I might have suffered detonation which overloaded the rod bearing. In my many hours of datalogging the car never knocked, but who knows.

I'm just happy I have the other motor ready to go. I have been waiting to do it and this just means I have to do it now :)

P.S. This is a good reminder of the "Gotta Pay to Play" motto. Even with careful maintenance **** will still go wrong.

Interesting. It would be cool once they pull it to look at the motor and see what happened. I was a little concerned after I heard you come off the track like that. But, I understand the pay to play motto and am ready to go :D What type of oil and how much boost where you running? Who did the tune?

he was running typical stg2 boost, and used streeTUNER. if you want to see what it looks like after bearing failure, check out the sti block we have in the store:) it's on the stand, in the corner. you can play with cyl 3 and see how much movement there is.

Yeah, standard boost levels.

Maybe peaking at 16 psi.

I always ran Amsoil 10w30. Maybe I would have been saved by the Eneos 0w50 ;)
