ProRallyEric 03-16-2007, 06:02 AM yes, it's called a header tank or swirl pot.
turboL 03-16-2007, 07:51 AM hey I have something that you might be able to use. It came on my ej20g. Its the air to water intercooler tank. Looks just like the ej20g coolant resovior just narrower and longer. i Dont need it, i can take pics if you want.
ProRallyEric 03-17-2007, 04:35 AM I don't think the air too water overflow tank has the rad cap on it. It needs to be a high pressure tank.

johnny p 03-18-2007, 01:17 AM hey turboL I could use that tank......
why are you still asking about this? You have all the answers you need in your other thread
civic2scooby 03-18-2007, 01:50 AM uhhh....I don't have any answers in my previous thread...

that plastic piece on the reservoir almost ALWAYS breaks when a 20g is swapped in.
You'd probably have to put in a TON of effort in to find a new reservoir, I'd JB Weld it back on and just never touch it again heh...
and
jb weld for a temp fix, then buy one of these;
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1209460
and
those always brake, and yes you can modify a usdm wrx or sti one for that matter. If you want something that fits ..... contact MRT.
Those are 4 options; jb weld, new aluminum tank from Aus, modify WRX/STi tank and order one from MRT. What else do you want to know?

A: there is no way in hell I am going to JB weld it. Not only is that ghetto but I am not JB welding a pressurized system.
B: That dude in AUS wants 215 bucks plus shipping from AUS
so really all I wanted to know was if the above would work. It will. What else do YOU want to know?
Also I didn't ask about the above pictured in my previous thread. Since the other thread is about my ej20g swap and not about a coolant resevoir I started a new thread about it. That and when I searched on NASIOC I found jack bubkiss. I found this online and it looked like what I needed so I wanted to be sure. Just because it isnt one of your options doesn't warrant the need for you to come in and be from my persepective completely condecending.
GripGC8 03-18-2007, 02:40 PM civic 2 scooby..where did you get that Sard tank?
im gonna need one too.

ebay of all places lol. Greddy makes one and they are around 100 bucks, and the SARD one is $200.
GripGC8 03-18-2007, 02:53 PM yeah i know billion makes one as well.
it does work on your car in place of the oem header tank? have you used it yet?

yeah it works in place of the oem header tank. Also comes with a high pressure brand new radiator cap which I need anyhow. It doesn't mount in the stock location without a custom fabricated bracket, but it can be mounted anywhere you want.
no I havent used it yet, I havent gotten it yet. I will be happy to post up pics and such when I do if you would like.
GripGC8 03-18-2007, 03:01 PM pics would be nice.
the whole reason i want to run one of these is the fact that i can mount it anywhere i like...im going for a clean look in my engine bay..doing a full wire tuck and shaving most of the un-used holes as well.
thats whay i made the ABS thread.
thanks for your help man..put up some more progress in your progress thread.

been out of town so there is no progress to post :( should be back in gear on the project tomorrow though!!
GripGC8 03-18-2007, 03:17 PM sweetness.
i just ordered my Sard breather tank from "ask me 4 parts" on ebay

$215 is Aus, which will be less than $200 shipped from Aus (which is less than that thing you got ebay, BTW).
Do what you want man. When you find out the turbo drian won't syphon correctly because it's not pulling down from the highest point, or that the coolant can't drain back uphill to the top of the radiator, or whatever else you didn't think of, maybe you will come back to the helpful suggestions given from the peole that have actually gone through this. That's all the condecending advice I'm going to give.
GripGC8 03-18-2007, 04:37 PM i dont understand why you say this wont work?
its made to do the same exact thing as the oem part...i would think as long as it is mounted at the right height it will work just the same..maybe im wrong.
but i dont see anyone giving any solid answers on the subject as to how the thing works and why it needs to be square shaped?
ive been trying to contact the maker of the austraulian header tank for a few weeks and he still hasnt replied to me..from what i understand he isnt making those alloy header tanks anymore...so the Sard part is what i decided to go with..they both look like the same thing to me except ones round, and ones square.

actually the greddy one was 100 bucks, I tried to contact that dude in AUS and he doesn't make them anymore. Also the plan is to mount it with a custom bracket in the exact same location as the stock one. Also I don't quite understand or that the coolant can't drain back uphill to the top of the radiator coolant draining back uphill? I wasn't aware that the cooling system relied on gravity...I assumed there was some sort of pump that moved it through the system.
It's a closed tank system with a push and a draw. Maybe I am missing something here I dunno. Thanks for the "advice" though. It would prob. have been better had you given actual examples and sounded like you knew what the **** you were talking about. It seems to me more like you are trying to push a product than anything else. I think it sucks we are getting off on the wrong foot as I plan on making this section of NASIOC my new home on here and you do seem very knowledgable. The way you talk down to people though just because you have been there and done it doesn't really make people want to listen to what you have to say. Maybe it is just me, but I hope our future meetings will be met with a different attitude towards each other.
kheff46 03-18-2007, 07:42 PM it will work as long as it has same features, has same mounting height, etc. square, round, pink, purple, matters dik!
pressurized system FTW!

yeah I was under the impression that as long as you aren't an idiot about it and keep its relation the same to the stocker that it wouldnt matter. thank you for your conformation of this!!!
