So I finally found some strut/springs takeoffs from a 03 WRX and am going to install onto my 02 Forester. Apparently it should be a pretty straight forward swap as the Forester and WRX suspension are very similar. Any tips on things that might make the swap go faster or easier on my knuckles.

I tried to install mine yesterday on my 93. I couldnt get a single bolt off. It usually only takes bout two hours for me to lower a car. Id just say, have a couple stands, and something to hold up the brakes when you take off the struts. And some breaker bars. Its a pretty simple install.....if everything isnt rusted on after 15 years....

pb blaster ftw....
Also your lug wrench makes a good braker bar.

yeah even the cheapest impact guns have a 230-250lb torque. That is like jumping up and down on a cheater bar. Maybe you can find a place that can loosen them for you.

Me and Trav were helping install a guys struts and springs and even with air tools the bottom bolts on the struts are a B****. We were standing still with his impact. So he is going to the base early on saturday and going to use their mega $$$$ impact.
pb blaster FTW..

You should let me cruise with and get mine loose, lol. If not, Im droppin my car off at a shop Monday and getting free labor/alignment/a.c fixed. They just take 2 freakin weeks to lower a car. My civic took 2 weeks! When I do the job, 2.5 hrs tops (when bolts come off...)

Thanks for the tips, hopefully I'll get this done tonight. I don't have access to air tools, but I have all the right size sockets a good torque wrench and a breaker bar. I'll pick up some pb blaster stuff too. I'm a little nervous because this car used to be our snow car so things might be a little rusty.:( I've done a lot of honda suspension work, but this is my first time on a Subaru. I'm assuming it's pretty similar.

I dont see anything to worry about. You will want to get an alignment after. If you can turn a wrench then you will be fine :P
