View Full Version : My 03 WRX at GST Motorsports
AspirinWhite 03-17-2007, 02:56 PM I live near Los Angeles Area and decided to drive a little to get my car tuned up in NorCal..
People at GST motorsports are the best! Their service is excellent and Mike really knows how to tune! It was definitly worth the 400mile drive each way. I think i got so much out of my $250 that I paid for Protune.
When my car got on the dyno 1st time, I got a good number but Mike was telling my how my car had to be so rich to get the timing right. After the tune, my car was running great, but that P1507 CEL kept on throwing.
I took my car back to the shop asking about the CEL. and they did a quick inspection. It turns out that the Hose T was broken and air was leaking through that. They got a new hose T for me (with no cost) and made sure the CEL doesn't come on.
As I left, GST called me on my cel wanting my car to come back. Mike apparently didnt want me to drive the car back to LA without him lookin at it. So my car ended up being dyno'd again. Mike tuned it and I got additional 6 hp/5 tq from the previous tune.
Just wanna say GST is awsome and They were definitly worth the drive...

Relax Adam, there was a slight boost dip that despite several hours of trying to clean up and remove just could not be tuned out with the factory boost setup and given that the car was running within 2hp and 1ftlb run after run with no cool down it was deemed as a relatively none issue so no there was no knock.

Explained in above post, but why would a dip in a graph clearly be a problem without you knowing any of the details?

Glad your enjoying the ride and happy that we were able to find that leak and get the car checked out again before you left.

Mike
i've seen dozens of vendors get worked up over nasio-critics. it's a losing battle, trust me. as a vendor you've gotta have a little more discretion with your posts... provide details, be professional, don't bite when someone is either wrong/ignorant/uninformed, just makes you look worse :)
nice tune... looks like a boost thing to me, too. just look at the peak right before said "dip." take it away and the dip isn't really noticable. if the car was pulling timing you'd see a much more noticable drop.
lovesmysuby04 03-18-2007, 03:47 PM Mike is great at what he does, keep up the good work guys.
aps2fast4u 03-18-2007, 03:54 PM +1 for the clean ride, nice..

CreoWRX 03-19-2007, 02:01 AM Did you drive up last Friday? I remember seeing the WRB '02/'03 bumper + STi wing a couple cars ahead of me on the 5N... But I pulled off shortly after I spotted you for a potty break. :p

It doesnt take a tuner to notice things about a dyno graph, for all you know Carmi I could be studying my arse off to become one. ;)
BTW I wasn't talking crap, just asking a question.....
