View Full Version : AaronB Wagon Update
dblurx4 03-18-2007, 03:55 PM Here are a few shots of the wagon getting jambed and cut-in. I have been working on the body work over the weekend, I will have more picutures up in the middle of the week with the car in primer. Then hopefully the car will be sprayed by the end of the week so I can get polished up and back to Aaron, because I know hes waiting for it! Enjoy...

good luck on that w/ door jams done
AaronB 03-19-2007, 06:49 PM Where you getting that done at?
Justin (dblurx4) is doing mine for me.
I don't know where you will be able to get a complete paint job done for $1k. The only places that I know of that will be that price range would be a MAACO or Earl Schieb type of place which I have not heard great things about their quality.

Hmmm, yeah. Im not quite sure where you would get a quality paint job for a under $1,000  ... Bring up your price range a bit and I will work with you from there. There is just too much involved with a complete paint job. About 95% time and 5% paint time. And Ive never done a half a** paint job. If your interested PM me, we can work something out for the future (a month or so)... Good luck
dblurx4 03-20-2007, 03:22 AM Looks good Justin! Wish I could scratch up some funds for a fresh paint job!
Ahh no hurry Virgil, Im not going anywhere and neither is your wifes car or your car for that matter... Are we still going to fix the wifeys car before we get to yours? Im assuming if you dont want to be in the doghouse we will be doing hers first...

dblurx4 04-02-2007, 09:49 PM Geeze, here are some pictures finally! Sorry, I have been slacking with posting them up... Aaron, you can punch me later. Keep in mind, the roof is all primed up now. I will be wetsanding down the car tomorrow night for final paint. And I will be pulling the car in the booth either wednesday afternoon or thursday afternoon to shoot it... After thats all said and done, I will get it polished, probably will take me 2 days to polish. And it will be all yours. The project has taken a bit longer than expected, its sorta kickin my a**. But what can you do? I just want it to turn out very nice for Aaron... Here you go! Doesnt the yellow primer look nice on the forest green?.?.?

No, the tundra is my roomates. And he loves it, hes a die hard toyota fan... Good truck! How do you like yours?
AaronB 04-03-2007, 12:27 PM Nice. Thanks for posting the new pics Justin.
While the primer yellow is hot, I think I will stick with the steel blue mica. ;)
Should be getting it back this weekend all finished up. Then the reassembly begins.
The interior was two tone grey panels, so I painted all of them the darker grey since I had them out. Installing a bunch of sound deadening, new component speakers up front, two amplifiers, a 10" sub and some other bits and pieces.
Then I get to put all the body parts on that Justin is painting as well. Getting a Prodrive P1 lip spoiler, Prodrive P1 driving lamps and covers, STi v6 grille, STi v6 side skirts, STi v6 rear spats, STi v6 waist and top spoilers.
Should be a fun little wagon when its done.
WgnWheel 04-03-2007, 11:25 PM should be a very fun wagon, and even better looking!

AaronB 04-10-2007, 04:24 PM Last update I got was it was supposed to be sprayed today, polished wed/thursday.
I should know more later today.
Cool, looking good Aaron. Can't wait to see it all done. Seeing that yellow primer reminds me of all the trucks guys had in high school. Except that's how theirs stayed. Forever.
AaronB 04-11-2007, 05:11 PM Thanks Ron. Going to send you a PM might need work from you.
Spoke with Justin last night. Looks like the car will be ready to pick up Sunday. Hopefully have more pictures soon.
dblurx4 04-16-2007, 09:22 PM Here are some pics, I finally got the car sprayed Steel Blue Mica. Meant to post pics over the weekend, but left my camera in the car! All thats left is to polish up everything and get everything put back on. Aaron will be driving his car this week! Im sure he cant wait! I will post before and after. Went from beast to beauty  ...

Looking good Justin, can't wait to get it back and get it all back together. Expect a lot of photos while parts are installed.
WgnWheel 04-17-2007, 01:11 AM yep, i'm gonna have to paint my wagon now......
subykid 04-17-2007, 01:28 AM thats a sick color.
coolcatcolin 04-17-2007, 02:04 AM I love the color. Did you spray the engine bay and all that too?
AaronB 04-17-2007, 02:14 AM Everything got painted except the engine bay. When the 2.5 block goes in I will tow it back over the Justin for the bay. Budget didn't allow for the 2.5 block to be done right now, and I didn't want to pull the motor twice.
dblurx4 04-17-2007, 02:53 AM I love the color. Did you spray the engine bay and all that too?
Like Aaron said, before the new motor gets dropped in I am going to flat black the engine bay. Masking around the engine is not the most exciting task, its a real pain in the a**... Soooo thats why were going to wait til the new motor gets put in to do the job right. But hey, the door jambs are done!
daaaaayum justin! that ish is HOT!
btw where the eff have you been son? good job answering your phone on the weekend....
VSB XT 04-17-2007, 11:27 AM ooozing jealousy! :alien:

Evil_STI 04-17-2007, 02:32 PM This will be even MOAR AMAZING!
racingfish 04-17-2007, 03:28 PM looks like quicksilver... or mercury.... i cant remember if those are the same things.
Black-Falcon 04-17-2007, 08:15 PM quicksilver is a nickname for mercury, yes.
Subaru_Aficionado 04-17-2007, 09:31 PM This will be even MOAR AMAZING!

AaronB 04-21-2007, 12:46 AM Got the car back last night. Took a couple quick pics today, sorry for the quality just wanted to get somthing up. Lots of parts to install on the exterior, and all the interior has to go back in now as well.

Magoozle 04-21-2007, 04:42 AM Damn, looks sick.
I wanna come take a look at it! Love me some wagons!
boosted20 04-21-2007, 05:25 PM doesn't get much cleaner than that.
VSB XT 04-21-2007, 08:10 PM Nice to see the rig come together so nicely! Well done!
AaronB 04-22-2007, 04:28 PM Rear hatch is RAAMmat'ed, ensolite'd, and trim is reinstalled. Test fit the subwoofer box and amp trim ring I made. Not bad considering I made them when Justin had the car.
Also recovered the headliner in some new foam back headliner. Looks a lot better than they fuzzy cardboard it had before. The flash made the trim around the headliner look darker than it is.
Today's project is soundproofing the rear doors. Might had time to get to the front doors, but probably not.

VSB XT 04-22-2007, 05:00 PM Does the Rammat make a big improvement? the FXT rattles and squeeks like the fricken mayflower and it would be nice to quiet it down.
boosted20 04-22-2007, 07:35 PM dyna-mat or whatever knock off is great insulation for road noise. it makes everything super quiet and solid but can weigh a lot depending on what type or how many layers you use. so yeah it works.
AaronB 04-22-2007, 09:22 PM I think it will help quite a bit, the old GC/GF body styles were like tin cans compared to the newer models.
From my thump test on the panels the ensolite is going to have a large effect in making the car quieter. I couldn't believe how solid the hatch area felt with a full layer of RAAMmat (2nd layer over where the muffler is) and then lining the entire hatch with the ensolite closed cell foam. It sounds very solid after the foam went in.
UPDATE:
Finished sound deadening both rear doors, ran all the wiring for the amps, and reinstalled all the trim along the doors.
WgnWheel 04-23-2007, 12:45 AM looks amazing, great color!
racingfish 04-23-2007, 11:33 AM really pretty.
mighty fine. can't wait to see it with all the outside bits bolted on.
I always wondered if the side trim strips were just taped on or if the doors had holes in them. now I know and I'm glad I never tried to pry mine off.
AaronB 04-23-2007, 06:21 PM Yeah, I was hoping there wasn't holes but there was. I got the moldings painted, just have to go by the auto paint supply store and get some of that industrial double sided tape to put them on.
The scary thing is the Upper STi spoiler mounts two brackets to the rear glass with only the tape holding it on....
AaronB 04-24-2007, 10:06 PM Quick update. Got the front passenger sound deadened. Also reinstalled the side moldings. Also picked up some misc. hardware to do the foglights, etc.
Hopefully by the end of this upcoming weekend everything will be done.
AaronB 04-27-2007, 01:42 PM Interior is all done except for sound proofing the floor (will be done later when I replace the carpet), Prodrive driving lamps are installed just need to fab a bracket to mount the cover, Prodrive Front lip is installed.
Hopefully will have the sideskirts and rear under spoilers done today as well.
NO PULSE 04-27-2007, 02:09 PM I'll say it again. Can't wait to see this in person.

AaronB 04-27-2007, 03:30 PM Update!!! Show More Pics Damnit! :)
Since we are in the home stretch I figured I would wait until everything was installed before I posted any more. Maybe I will throw up some teaser pics later ;)
Saw your car down at FAT just now, another bad injector?!?!?
LegacyGt05 04-27-2007, 03:41 PM yes :( damn thing ... but this time .. they replaced all 4 injectors with a matching set .. just waiting for them to call me back. I did upgrade the fuel pump yesterday to rule that out ... (of course it wasn't that).
John2.5RS 04-27-2007, 06:27 PM I don't think you've ever NOT had a problem with injectors!
JAPcarREALgood 04-28-2007, 04:05 AM Looks Amazing Aaron... I think I have a new favorite color
VSB XT 04-28-2007, 12:31 PM yes :( damn thing ... but this time .. they replaced all 4 injectors with a matching set .. just waiting for them to call me back. Good move on the fuel pump though and now you have room fo mo powa!
AaronB 04-29-2007, 11:07 PM Here is the 97% finished product. Need to install the STi v6 Wagon Waist Spoiler and the tow hook cover for the front bumper. Other than that I have to install the amps/subwoofer and it is complete for a while.
