I've been through a lot of the motor build tip and question threads.. Is it a MUST to replace the oil and water pump when swapping shortblocks. I have 30k miles on my oil and water pump right now and Im in the middle of swapping the shortblocks.. what are the gurus opinons on this?

I would...how much does a new water pump and oil pump cost compared to what you just spent on a motor swap? At least do the oil pump.

Personally, I would change the water pump for sure because they wear out. The for the oil pump, I would simply tear down and inspect the oil pump because its easy to do.

as for the oil pump.. It looked fine. I did tear it down and looked at it. I have the full gasket kit so everything has new o-rings and gaskets.. As for the water pump I have no idea.

I guess Im just not understanding the fact that everything was running fine before the ringland.

But I guess I can understand that something could of went wrong with it during the whole disassemble and assemble.
