Jasper 03-19-2007, 11:49 PM heh, now THATS hardcore.
how big a cell?
and reinforcing of the trunk to protect it? (since its basically sitting in a crumple zone now?)
man. everyones going with massive TB's lately. if i wasnt so lazy (and broke), i'd do a ridiculous reversed manifold while the motor was out
looks sweet man. nice work. (btw, what kind of fuel line is that?)
DoctorNick 03-20-2007, 02:44 AM That looks real nice, I like the intake manifold too. Custom made I'd imagine?
tonzo 03-20-2007, 02:45 AM +1 on the fuel line. also is that an a1000? anymore info on your set up? very interested
dan avoN7 03-20-2007, 03:33 AM more info please :)
also is that a typo or do you have two fuel filters?

Its only 5 gallons... which should help limit how much I drive it, lol! But figure 15 mpg or so, and thats still a 75 mile range. I'll probably keep an extra 1 gallon on board ;)
Not sure about reinforcement... these are pretty tough, and they way I have it mounted, it will give in a crash... BUT, I like to think that will never happen. I will at least be putting up some sort of firewall...
The fuel line is Summit's Twist-tite line. Its some really tough stuff. I didn't want the added weight, expense and headache of stainless line... and since I am running the stuff mostly internally (like the facotry lines), I wont NEED something as tough as stainless braded line.
Summit uses Russell's hose, so the fittings are interchangable. I went with mostly Russell fittings.
I am considering the reverse manifold... not sure yet though...

Turbo XS prototype... its well designed... but were not sure what kind of numbers it will yeild.

wow, you rock. that is all. I have some idea's on your new setup from what I've seen on your posts, but I can't wait to see it. I think I'm more excited than you!
dug-e-fresh 03-20-2007, 10:24 AM +1 on the fuel line. also is that an a1000? anymore info on your set up? very interested
Yes, thats an A1000. And to answer the filter question... no its not a typo. Aeromotive recommends running a 100 micron before the pump and a 10 micron after. Some people do without the 100 micron one... but it helps extend the pump life.
Most fuel systems have a dual filtering system... what do you think the pick-up bag is on an in-tank pump ;)
As for other details...
The car recieved a relatively comprehensive weight reduction. No wing. No scoop...

good to see others trying different manifolds we had good luck with kienans custom manifold
good luck on your setup
dug-e-fresh 03-20-2007, 11:41 AM What does Kienan's look like? And thanks... the plenum has quite abit of volume now... about 2 liters worth. I think i calculated it out to be 122 ci, so just a tad bigger than the motor ;) The runners aren't quite the same length and there are no internal velocity stacks... but, all in all it should be a marked improvement over stock.
def
ooohh aaahhh... prototype intake manifold. I wish I could get my hands on an intake manifold with volume equal to my 2.0l. Sounds nice.
Your new setup is looking sick from the bits and pieces you've been posting.
Unabomber 03-22-2007, 08:42 AM I dont have any pics, but Kienan's manifold is reversed. It has a large main body that is parallel with the car body (90 degrees off of the TXS design), with equal length runners going to the TGVs. It was all Vern's (vmiz) design and they had really, really good gains just by swapping that out. I believe somewhere's in the neighborhood of 20 HP if memory serves.
rlavalle 03-22-2007, 11:28 AM Very nice!
Are the cams the typical 10.7mm lift? What is the maximum AVCS advance that you determined to be safe for these cams?
Russ
DrinkAV8 03-22-2007, 11:34 AM I thought those cams had an even 11mm lift, could be wrong though.
You have my dream setup! :D

Russ
Its 10.7mm on the intake side and 10.0mm on the exhaust side. The exhaust has longer duration to make up for less lift. The website has a typo.
These are supposed to be the perfect cams for a 2 liter AVCS set-up.
The one thing I WONT do is mess with the AVCS maps... at least in terms of increasing the advance. I may decrease it...

very clean looking there dug-e
looking forward to seeing your new #s at the track
forgot to ask you are those 2.5 avcs heads or 2.0
dug-e-fresh 03-26-2007, 12:05 AM thanks!
2.0 spec c heads ;)

the oracle 03-26-2007, 04:55 AM is that t/b custom also or is it an off the shelf piece? congrats and good luck with such a clean setup

Ku engineering makes them... I bought it off eBay. It's a very nice item.
all the stock sensors bolt right up, and bolt pattern is spot on...
however... you need to find bolts that will work with the TB. I tried using allen headed cap bolts, but the head was STILL too big. So I ended up having the heads machined down 0.004 AND I had to dremel some clearance into the TB itself... it works beautifully now ;)
Also, on factory intake manifolds this is a no go as the manifold itself has a 60mm opening... so you'd also have to have that bored out to accept the TB (or it won't open all the way).
Lastly, cruise control is not readily plug-n-play. I am still playing with the idea of getting it to work... but we'll see.
