Finally have a potential buyer for my sti, but i'm having a hard time pulling the trigger on the sale. My main question and concern is about how much does everyone owe on their car and how much do you make hourly? I feel that this car runs my life instead of me, and i need other peoples input and ideas. Also what are the other cars you were thinking of buying before your subie.

FOund A Legacy Gt wagon 5 spd that would decrease what i owe from 9500 to 3000 what are your thoughts?

hahaha

im in the ultimate owe to much on the car spot

I owe $27k on my 05 WRX. Bought new as a previous model year last year, and had negative equity rolling from buying 3 new cars in 2005.

I make around $50-$60k a year depending on sales, and pay $607 a month for the car and $225 for insurance

If you enjoy the car, then keep it regardless of what you have to pay for it. If you like it, then its worth it. You wont be happy getting into less of a car to save money. Look into a refi and get a lower payment and be happy!

Keep your STI and tell your buyer to buy mine:devil:

J/K.

STI is a fun car(i am still debating myself if I should still sell mine). But if your financial situation does not allow you to keep it(spend most of you income on the car), sell it. You can always get a better car later. You have to make a decision, car, or more money for everything else.

i owe bout 20k on my car... i dont get paid in actual us $$ they pay me with beer, inwhich their a little behind this month. this is my 3rd new suby in the last 3 or 4 years.... my first was a new 03 wrx then i got my lgt then my Tribeca. What did i think about buying b4 my lgt??? an sti.. i didnt pull the trigger because my payments would have went up $100/month and insurance $35/month. and to tell u the truth i wasnt impressed with the performance of the sti vs my 03'

now my next car im thinkin bout getting would be another suby... just dont know what model... either 08' sti or 08' lgt spec b... just not sure yet~!!

and for the sake of my divorce and if my ex is peepin in... i make $1500/month.

when i bought my wagon I had about 15k in finance and a total of 18.5k in sale. that was two years ago and at that time I made about 18-20k in income. payments are 290 a month but i pay 300 each time. I was able to save a couple hundred a month but I was living with minimal spendage because i was afraid of not having money.

but now I owe about 7k and the car is still worth 13k or so. (low mileage and clean) and now i am at 15 an hour and feeling like i have room for mods and cable tv! w00t

The only way I could buy a suby, errr, the only way my wife would let me buy a suby is if I could pay cash for it. So I found one for $9700, and sold my maxima ($8K) and paid the difference in cash.

We only want one car payment at a time, right now that's the '06 Jetta, at $330/month, got a good deal.

We're pretty freaky about being in debt, so we live within our means and try to pay cash for stuff, or at least free/low financing (1.9 % on Jetta).

According to Al Gore, anyone making $89K/year is rich, so I guess technically we're (combined income) almost rich!!!! Yeah right.

It's true though, doesn't matter how much you make, you're still broke every month. I've got less "spending money" now than I did when I was 16. Those were the days, no bills, no debt, no worries, and all $85 a week was mine to spend!!!! ( I was paid 3.33/hr at my first job, man I'm old.

i owe 4500 on my sti... i make 8.50/hr + commission..I hustle stuff (electronicsd, whatever, no drugs though i have thought about it cuz you can make cash :) ) on the side and make more than my job

oh and whatever job you have, the car will still run you.. so if thats the issue, KEEP IT!

No matter what you will always have the mod/need more bug

Dude, owing 9500 bucks really isn't that big of a deal. Especially when you consider that you have an STi which is worth what? maybe 24,000 dollars. In my book, that is good. Just enjoy the car.

Just to contribute, I owe 6500 bucks on my wrx and I make about 60K. Something every car owner should come to grips with is that purchasing ANY car is basically a bad investment. I'm sure there's a few exceptions, but in general that really is the case.

AMEN. Just pick a car you like and have fun with it. I've had luck, financially, buying used cars.

I bought the suby because I knew that I would be putting a gazillion miles on it. But each time something goes wrong, I can upgrade. engine blows, upgrade to 2.5, tranny, upgrade to 6 spd, struts, upgrade suspension , etc. etc. This way i don't feel bad about putting money into fixes. hmmm....uppipes and downpipes go bad right? I can convince the wife anyway!!

I agree that $9500 isn't that much to owe on a car that's worth over $20K. There are lots of people that are upside down on what they owe - that's a bad place to be.

Good luck
