I really don't know anything about Porsche turbos

But - they come by The Shop were I tune all the time and tonight I decided to start learning something

585 Tq on pump gas with Stage IV was nothing to sneeze at

I cant afford a Porsche so I'll have to settle for my STI

I drove a silver one once, with all red interior really beautiful car. I think your buddy was off on the price though, a turbo will end up costing you $120k after tax i bet for a new one. Ive seen some swapped 911s, the older versions with these motors.. a stripped down 911 especially those older models are very light and with a turbo motor they can be really fast. With engine in back I bet they get good weight transfer on those rear wheels to bite at the track

The guy is right, nothing I've driven is anything like driving a 911, they have a really unique feel.

I bet you could find an older 996 turbo for around 80k.

A 997 can get near 150k FULLY loaded for new one. I am sure you can find one for around 120-125 bare bones.

Here is a link to two turbo's at a local dealer... one is 134k and the other is 139k. That is getting up there...

that's pretty sweet thanks for sharing. What do they charge for a tune? Probably a lot more considering the type of person that drives a 911.

Its funny you know - I cant quote prices here but for 1/10th of the price of a Porsche Base Flash with no tuning - just a plug in map - we do a fully custom tuned Subaru reflash with 2 hours on the dyno and a full road test and data logging

In the Porsche aftermarket the customer gets bent over and raped

The Stage IV package is $14,000 I believe in total

Evo and Subaru market the customer gets a great value for the $ spent

Sweet vid, a friend of mine has a 996tt and it was putting down 370whp on a Mustang dyno with just a chip and an exhaust but the cost of those mods are almost what I spent on all my mods! Price is def alot higher and its not like the quality is better either...another friend of mine has a Ruf R-Turbo, 600whp on pump gas at 1 bar of boost (low boost pump program), car is absolutley insane and has a top speed of 219...

thanks for sharing the video

I know someone who had a 911 turbo that made 454whp and 555wtq, let me tell you that car was rediculously fast. From 30mph you punch it and it broke all 4 tires loose. He had that car going 202mph at one point.

my dad had a 04 with the x50 package, it was like a $15,000 turbo upgrade... the car then came with alittle over 450hp stock...the thing was badass...im sure it ran high 11's stock awd

it's actually just a chip upgrade... for 15k
just goes to show, money can't buy knowledge or know-how.

Actually its more than just a chip upgrade. The turbo gets upgraded from a standard 996tt k16 compressor wheel to a larger k24. You also get a larger intercooler, GT3 oil pump and steel syncros with the x50 package

Yeah you know I was just thinking, I'm all over this website and I've been seeing a lot of Buschur and Dyno Flash posts lately with some great videos and good information. I'm digging it. I wish they were closer to me though. Usually when I buy parts the difference of a couple bucks doesn't mean that much to me, it's more important that I buy from a good company. I'm getting close to ordering their exhaust. They seem like really cool guys. Too bad I can't get the tune from them all the way out there.

the 15k sounds like a chip AND exhaust upgrade (5k on the exhaust alone). turbo swaps are just stupid $$$.

a friend of the family recently picked up a 2002 996 turbo with 13k miles for 69K. he immediatly dropped some 20k on wheels, tires, suspension, and the engine upgrades (chip and exhaust). mods put him at 530(crank)hp. i drove it and i thought it was a Frackin Blast...!!! power comes on frightning fast. Funny thing is he drove my FP Green STi on Meth, and he thought i maybe a bit faster than him...i was like WTF...!!!

2001's are going for as "little" as in the high 50's...but with alot of miles on them. i was contemplating a Z06, but the awd and forced induction has got me just stupid right now...lol...

skyline...996...skyline...996...???

Dyno Flash -- This was awesome, and like everyone else here, I totally enjoyed watching the vid...

But for God's sake, man: blur out the license plates!

I'd be pissed as heck if I was one of those Porsche owners.

not bad, thought it was a lot more simple than that. even still i think i'd put that money to better use at a go fast shop rather than options from the factory. bet you could do a LOT more.
just goes to show, when you don't have any money you don't know squat about 15k porsche options

Awesome vid! That's my dream car. Not some Ferrari or Austin Martin or Lambo, just a Porsche 911 Turbo.

Jeeze I don't know anybody with a 911 Turbo :(

Nice video! Only person that comes to my mind from watching import races was Eddie Bello. Very entertaining to see him make the car pop wheelies in 1st and 2nd gear before blowing by the competition between mid and end of the track. Good ole days! He got into trouble with the law though with having extra Porsche engines at this shop. Wonder what he's doing these days?

This is what happened to him previously, Fast and the Furious style-->

Yeah, a 1983 Targa. The pedal motion is very different, they're extremely close together to begin, too. I like the late 70s through early 90s air-cooled best still =)

Don't the 997's run the Variable Turbine Geometry(VTG) turbos? When are we going to get to see something like that offered in the after market world?

yes black sti your correct....like the hater above he doesn't realize my dad is the person that doesn't do the work him self and wants the warrenty with the car....so the upgrade comes from the factory, its not an add on addition thats done at the dealership!!

Yeah i remember this guys shop used to be like 10 minutes from my parents house where i grew up near a chevy dealer that eventually closed down, ive heard some stories about how fast his porsches were from some people at street races. someone told me he held a record for the fastest street porsche at one point something like that
