View Full Version : 05 WRX GT30 stock internals 93oct
SinistiR 03-20-2007, 07:38 PM Just got done tuning an 05 WRX with the following mods:
Perrin GT30 .82
Perrin FMIC
Helix 820's
Walboro pump
Header(unwrapped and uncoated)
3in cat back exhaust
Mbc set to 19.5psi
93 octane
EcuTek
The lag is bad on the dyno, but on the street it really doesnt feel as bad as it looks. I think I would still prefer a bolt on turbo for the 2.0's.

Swine 03-20-2007, 07:50 PM Can you post a smaller dyno graph? Please?
Devil27 03-20-2007, 07:53 PM how much whp/wtq did you put down? i cant read the fine print...
joe198219 03-20-2007, 07:55 PM What the heck does that say? ummmm...... a bit bigger please?
SinistiR 03-20-2007, 08:01 PM whoops, sorry guys, normaly you can click on it to zoom. I will fix it right now.
joe198219 03-20-2007, 08:08 PM Wow great numbers!!!
disque71 03-20-2007, 08:27 PM when is the turbo fully spooled? what size gt30?
Capt Crunch 03-20-2007, 08:44 PM It's too bad you've got to replace the motor/tranny to get the most out of that turbo.

Try clicking on the image. :)
About 350 whp and just a tad under 310 wtq
kcook 03-20-2007, 09:43 PM id be happy with that , but i wouldnt go thru the trouble of getting a 30R , but it does look cool :)
td06 20g aggressively tuned or a 20g on meth and u have the same #s

Its a .82 kit from Perrin. Its at 19lbs by about 4500 with a hot header.

So true. Hes on the stock trans for now.

Agreed.
WRblueX_Guy 03-21-2007, 12:47 AM That's not too bad. It looks like it pulls like a freight train from 4k on. That's way more fun than low-end torque, in my opinion
I'm curious to see what it could put down on ~100 oct with lots more timing, hopefully without breaking a rod :o
Wrong turbine housing for the motor IMHO. I think a .63 A/R is a better match to the 2.0l, and it would've improved spool/boost threshold.
JMK508 03-21-2007, 11:33 AM Great work Andy..... I will be up there soon.
i think for 19.5 psi, those numbers are good. Plus the bigger hotside is great if he wants go semi-built down the line...
The bigger hot side would only be beneficial if the owner wanted to upgrade to a 2.5l.
midnite_wrex 03-21-2007, 12:11 PM I'm curious to see what it could put down on ~100 oct with lots more timingthe transmission is what it would put down  and maybe the balance on his checking acct?
The bigger hot side would only be beneficial if the owner wanted to upgrade to a 2.5l.
yes, which everyone is doing, or if he puts a larger cam in it and wants to ring it out at the track he'll be enjoying the benefits of that larger hotside.
so like I said, upgrade later on and he'll be happier with a larger hotside
timeless 03-21-2007, 12:38 PM ^^^ Yep, looks like the 30r with .82 a/r is much better matched with the 2.5 but it still looks like the 30r still wakes up at 4 grand with both motors. I must say either way the 30r is an aewsome turbo. :disco:
Honest Bob 03-23-2007, 11:43 AM This might be a dumb question but how does that turbo match up to a SBR GT30-12? I got a good deal on one but I dont know when its gonna spool up.
BTW this is Ben with the loud ass silver 05 WRX Wagon that came up with Ryan at Area1320 a couple months back.
JMK508 03-23-2007, 03:27 PM Unless you can get it real cheap....i mean giving it away. i would stay away from SBR. Just search the name and you will find out.

JMK508 03-23-2007, 05:59 PM I didnt say you were bad people. I simply said that i have read that people have had many issues with some of your turbo's. That's it.
treystoys 03-23-2007, 11:27 PM Not knocking this set up or tune at all, I have been considering a similar setup with my 05 as well. I'd like to see some 1320 runs when/if they are done. My 05wrx with an FP evo3 16g, tmic, and helix 660s made 336whp, 320wtq on 93 octane and 21psi. My car runs 12.3ish between 108-110.
Any plans for this car to make it to the track? And maybe Doug will see this, and finally post my dyno chart, I'm sure lots want to see it. Doug...you there?? ;)
Later guys
Trey
mrubino83 03-24-2007, 12:53 AM Add some meth injection, crank up the boost, and thats where your turbo will really shine! You will be glad you went with the 30r!

I dont know if the car will ever see the track, its a clients car not mine.
treystoys 03-24-2007, 11:44 PM Gotcha...
I'd bet the traps are higher than mine despite the whp. It should be good for mid teen mph atleast with any decent ET
If he does go, and you find out, pass on the times.
Thanks
Trey
MRF582 03-25-2007, 12:32 AM why the low boost? Why not run 23psi or maybe 25psi? The turbo is fully capable and if you don't have a horrible tune that detonates you can run it up there. Are you worried about the connecting rods breaking?
WRXRallyBlue 03-25-2007, 04:04 AM Pump gas tune.
lawn boy 03-25-2007, 09:39 PM ever have problems with the clutch slipping at that high of power? I plan on having you tune my FPGreen setup w/ stock tranny/clutch w/ 30k miles on it
lawn boy 03-25-2007, 09:48 PM nvmnd
JMK508 03-25-2007, 09:50 PM ^^^^With that setup i would highly recommend a clutch upgrade. Your stock clutch might hold for a little bit, but not for a length of time.

I would upgrade the clutch before you get tuned. I dont think I have ever tuned a stock clutched WRX over 300whp.
wowomg 03-26-2007, 07:55 PM Wow!!!!
