So I finally got around to tuning a customer of mine's 2005 STi with Dug-E-Fresh's old turbo setup. Made awesome power. We are planning a trip to the local 1/4 mile track to see what it will do along with a few other cars I have built.

Mod List (Going from memory):
-APS Turbo Inlet
-DB SZ49 w/ 8cm^2 housing
-UR 38mm External Wastegate setup
-Invidia Catless Downpipe
-HKS HiPower Cat-back
-TXS FMIC
-K&N Typhoon Short Ram w/ heat sheild
-PE850cc Injectors
-Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump
-TXS HPBC

I think that is all of the mods. Boost was set to 19psi and A/F was set to 11.5:1 once full boost came on. We picked up 94.9whp and 80ft/lbs torque from where we started!!! The owner was EXTREMELY happy with the results.

Enjoy!!

pretty much nothing. mikaust and I dynoed the same day, me with the SZ49 and him the Green, both 8cm housings and 38mm tials... we both dyno'ed 452.4 whp!! The torque curves were a little different... there were some differences in the set-ups though... all in all though... pretty much the same.

good job! glad to see she's doing well in the new home!!

Nothing. They are the same turbo just different manufacturers. This particular SZ49 has one of the first 8cm^2 turbine housing brought over and was originally on an FP turbo I believe.

Definitely a well put together car now. I had to go over it before hand and tell him what to straighten out. It was a pretty easy tune with no issues, which is nice for me cause I hate fixing or diagnosing cars on the dyno!!!

Yep, doing very well. Owner is really happy with it. With race gas there is ALOT left in this setup. I am glad he listened to me and bought your setup. I am still waiting for my commision!! ;) :D

thats a nice graph .. good tuning.. so tired of seeing the graphs with peak torque at 3500-4000 then tapering off to half peak torque by redline and totally killing the HP .. nice flat curve there.. nice.

I can't see the graph at work, whats the whp and wtq?

Nice curves. I ran 20psi on my green - 7cm and made 364whp and had about the same shape. Nothing like pushing deeper and deeper into the driver's seat all the way to redline.

93 octane?

i thought this turbo really shines at 22-25psi?

Before tuning 240ft/lbs torque and 253whp
After tuning 320ft/lbs torque and 351whp

The turbo really does shine at 25psi but thats on Race fuel of course. Pump you can run 18-20psi with no issues with a good tune. Great setup and cant wait to see some times posted.

Yes, 93 octane @ 19psi. And yes, it would have made more power with more boost but the owner told me where he wanted it and that is what I did. I am sure he will want more soon, but I would rather tune it on race gas.

That's one of the fastest spooling 8cm Greens I've seen.

3" inlet? TGV deletes? Magic?

What EM?

No Big MAF?

nice numbers matt... green isnt as laggy as i thought it would be. I got to see alex's white TR last night with the external rotated green setup... When the green hits boost it sounds amazing... it made my want one just hearing it.

2.4" inlet and no TGV deletes. Engine Management is ECUTek. And no BIG MAF.

It hit full boost by 3700-3750rpms, which is right where a Green or SZ49 should spool.

This car was out last night with Alex. It is Justin's Blue STI with FMIC. Justin's car is just a little bit faster than Alex's.

And yes, Alex's setup is sweet. I am the one who told him how to design it. I have quite a few ideas I have come up with that are very unique.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. As I said, I was very happy with the outcome of the tune.

is the customer planning on a 100oct, 112, C16, etc. tune at all?? I bet this car will be into the 450-475 HP range on a nice race gas tune
