Out of curiosity, what does the average hybrid cost. STi 2.5 with WRX heads? Might have a line on one built by Slowboy Racing but not sure what to look at paying.

You can get an sti sb for around 1600-1800, plus 80 for water pump, 80 for oil pump, like 30 in gaskets and seals, cams would be a good upgrade but not necessary.

I did mine for less than 2k. Including gaskets, block, pumps, etc. :) You just have to know where to look. Gasket overhaul kit is almost 300 itself.

So are you saying you don't need the entire gasket kit?

$1495 for the 2.5L shortblock, $214 for a gasket kit, and prices 20-50% less than most dealerships. you can get a 2.5L motor built with WRX heads for well under $2k.

they're who i ordered all my OEM parts from :)

PM me if you want their contact information. deal with Jeremy or Tristan in parts.

Great ideas, but I may have a complete assy. Manifold, heads, block, ect. also with engine wiring harness and TDO5E small 16G turbo. Not sure what to offer the guy for it. Any thoughts? 0 run time and assembled at Slowboy.

speak with Tristan or Jeremy in parts. if you ask, they WILL do an STi shortblock for $1495+shipping (~$50), and a complete gasket kit is $213.72

assuming you're going to use untouched heads, all you'll really need to add is a new timing belt ($103.47) and UP gaskets. ($9.58/ea)

1495+50+213.72+103.47+9.58+9.58=$1881.35, and figure maybe ~ $10 for additional shipping.

you're @ just under $1900 for everything you'd need to swap over

edit. im dumb. i forgot oil and water pumps. add ~ $150 for the pair.

my mistake. ~ $2050 shipped and you'd have a 2.5L hybrid...with EVERYTHING.

i never mentioned labor to build it.

psh. cmon, anyone with a service manual, a little know-how, and a decent selection of tools can assemble a motor with a bit of patience. it's not quite brain surgery.
