View Full Version : TXS OTS maps rich down low

The OTS maps from TXS are really rich down low. I am talking 2500-4000 rmp, even in the low load ranges. When I log my AFR, I wind up with FAR different (lower) fueling values in the lower rpm ranges, especially in the lower load ranges. Is this done to aid spooling (which seems ridiculous given the stock turbo)? Or is it done to prevent det (as I recall, the TXS maps run fairly aggressive timing).

I don't consider the OTS map aggressive at all. The timing is ok. The richness does NOT aid in spool up. It actually takes longer.

That is what I thought, too, based on my own experience. Then why on earth would they run so much more fuel than stock, especially in the critical spooling range....

From what I understand, this map is just to get the car running. It needs to be tuned ASAP. I ran pig rich with the OTS stage 2 map. I had friends behind me that pretty much knew everytime I shifted. So becareful.

I swapped out my lower RPM (below where my turbo normally spools) fueling values for the TXS stage 2 values, just for kicks. It seemed to really hurt spooling of the turbo, although my tip-in lean condition was miraculously cured. ;) Going back to my tuned AFR map with a press of a button....

What rpm are you hitting full boost? What is your target boost?

Well, my map is based off a tuned (w/o wideband) stage 2 reflash. The UTEC controls some timing and boost. But I will be getting more tuning done this weekend. If we can get a great map together I will send it to you if you are interested. One advantage I have is 94+ octane gas station right down the street.

We have cat-pee gas here in America's Outback (91 tops). I do run 50-50 water-methenol injection through a Stage 2 CoolingMist kit. I have a td0618g turbo (Deadbolt) and I see 16 psi at about 3k, depending on what gear I am in, temps, etc. I am self-tuned with a TXS Tuna and Defi EGT, with lots of help from UTI. I would be curious to see your timing and fueling maps, just for kicks. PM me and I will give you my e-mail addy.

^^ PM me your email address and I will send you my map.

P.S. Not for the faint of heart....lol
