GTkrockett 12-08-2001, 09:44 PM Just wondering what kind of hit your MPG has taken as a result of getting cams.
I used to average 23-25 mpg city/freeway (mostly freeway) before and now it is more like 20-23 mpg...all things being equal except for the cams. I waited a while to post because I had a heavy right foot :D my first few weeks. But, the last few tanks, I've made a point to drive more like I did before (which is still with a heavy right foot), and am getting the above results.

yes you do....w/o a doubt
quicksilver 12-08-2001, 11:28 PM I'm getting around 27-28. I did notice a drop for the first tankfull after the install, but I put Mobil 1 in the tranny and diff., switched to NGK's, and my S-AFC is leaned out a fair amount.

Midwayman 12-09-2001, 04:49 AM Well, Im still getting almost exactly the same # of miles off a tank as before I put the cams in. However I have noticed that If I am especially heavy with the gas, the mileage difference shows up a little more. Not like I am a gas sipper or anything.

Panzer1939 12-09-2001, 12:30 PM I'm getting the same mpg I was before the cams. 20 around town and 30 on the highway. This is also with Cobb CAI, Borla Headers, UDP, full cat back and a heavy foot.

triXXXter 12-09-2001, 11:02 PM I was just wondering about the power gains? So all are of you happy with the power from them for the cost?
Thanks for your time.
Midwayman 12-10-2001, 12:57 AM The gains are great for the money if you can install them, or get a buddy to install them for you. The gains per dollar really kinda fall off when you are talking Labor on top of the Cam cost.
jagcars26 12-10-2001, 01:11 AM See above post/\ ,,,the same

brian is right...if you have a friend that can do the install or you can do it yourself it's the best way to go...otherwise the price gets kinda high and you just get the gains knocked right down.

cminch 12-10-2001, 01:18 AM This is sorta O/T to the thread but some of you with the mpg discussion might be interested.
If you've got a palm pilot, there's a nifty little program somewhere on palmgear.com called fuellog. I've been using it for about a month now and it's great. It gives you stats about your mpg, with cost ratios, graphs and averages. It's pretty cool if you're into that sort of thing and happen to have a palm.
