I've been getting knock randomly and finally captured a log of it today.

Nope...got knock and backed out right away as i usually do

I don't know what fuel you are running, but you may want to back off your timing alittle bit in the 100% column. Currently looking at a log of a 02 WRX at similiar boost pressures on a VF39 and at the RPM that you knocked I was running 11 degrees of timing while you are trying to run 14. IMO you'd still have plenty of torque if you back it down to 11 and taper it up to 14 by 5200 rpm.

Your AFR is the same as the WRX I tuned so you could try my advice and see how it goes.

Thanks...the killer is that this map worked in the cold weather and now that it is warming up...it's giving me problems. I thought it would be the other way around.

Well in that case you may be able to use the temperature compensations rather than adjusting the map :) Find out what the IAT was and goto the temperature compensations under parameters and put -2 degrees of timing for that range. Make sure you adjust Intake Air Temperature Timing though, so many compensations in there it is easy to get confused.

Really don't want to use temp comp though. I usually just back down boost for the winter.

Do you have seperate maps for winter and summer? I probably would since the fuel also changes between seasons. Good luck.

Just curious...what are you logging with?

It was tuned by TXS and they give you 4 maps. Map 1 = high perf street, map 2 = low boost, map 3 = -1deg timing, map 4 = +1% fuel.

Bump for more more help...

Could it be my plugs? I'm running BKR7E...I've been running these for a while swapping them out every 3000, but I am actually at 3300 right now on this set...I've been lazy. Would that cause my mysterious knock?

Should I just back off the timing where Master said? This is just confusing to me though. With my old setup....tuned in the summer...would knock in the winter due to the higher boost pressures. Now...this map was tuned in the winter and it is knocking as it is getting warm out.

Those plugs, are they the copper version? I think each tuner has a personal preference on plugs but I've always had great results with stock plugs in the stock heat range and saw no reason to change them.

Of course by saying that I'll have a bunch of internet mechanics telling me I'd make more power by going a heat range colder and it is dyno proven etc. Ignoring the fact that fresh plugs are going to do better than used ones if only for a short while.

Yep, they are copper. Well...I was tuned on these plugs and have ran them ever since. I made 385whp. It ran strong with no knock for a while. That's why I got a retune in the winter, but who knows what is up with my car now. I think I might just back off the timing like you said and see what happens. Could be the different gas that I am using now too. I moved.

i can take a guess as to what will happen....

your knock will disappear. :)

But why would this map work in 20degF weather and not in 65degF? I actually thought that I would have to bump everything up when it got warmer.

primarily turbo and intercooler efficiency dropoff... maybe gasoline blend as a secondary effect.

Temp issue: I have to use the temp comp where I live. I had my car tuned at a lower alt and cooler more humid climate. Just in the drive back home from the tune, I had knock. There was a 20deg difference between the tuner and my home.

In fact just this week I had issues, the temp went from 90deg to 65deg in a 2 day period. Even with the the temp comps it's a problem.
